"When should I take my child to the orthodontist?" is a very common question!

The AAO (American Association of Orthodontics) recommends by age 7.

This young patient had a posterior crossbite, meaning the upper arch is too narrow compared to the lower arch. A crossbite prevents the teeth from meeting together properly, forcing the patient to shift the jaw. This shift can endure asymmetric jaw growth, so crossbites are super important to correct as early as possible! We often use a pallet expander to correct the crossbite. These expanders are super safe and provide effective treatment for young patients.

If you're wearing braces this Halloween, remember to avoid those super hard sticky things (like Skittles!). Reese's Cups and M&M's are okay - just remember to brush 'em up after you enjoy those treats!
