The Recovery House is excited to announce the unveiling of the Joe Nester Technology Recovery Center, made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Christian Tech Center Ministries. This computer lab is designed to equip our participants with the necessary resources they need to further their education and enhance their job opportunities. By providing access to computers and various educational software, we aim to empower individuals on their journey toward a successful and fulfilling future.

We are honored to collaborate with organizations like the Christian Tech Center Ministries, which shares our commitment to supporting personal growth and recovery. Their dedication to helping others is invaluable to our mission.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Faith Nester for allowing us the opportunity to honor her late husband, Joe Nester, whose journey will continue to inspire us all.

Today, we had the opportunity to engage in the Crisis Resolution and De-escalation Techniques community awareness program. This informative session was conducted by Detective Bradley and Detective Guzman of the Seminole County Sheriff's Office Behavioral Services Division. The program aims to equip participants with important skills and strategies to effectively handle crisis situations and reduce potential conflict.

Throughout the session, we learned about approaches to de-escalation, including verbal communication techniques, situational assessment, and the importance of empathy and active listening. This experience deepens our understanding of crisis management and the vital role that service providers like the Recovery House play in supporting those in need.

A key element of ongoing success and the joy of maintaining long-term sobriety is the support one receives. The Recovery House is honored to have community supporters who take the time to brighten our days. Through Project Sanford, our residents enjoyed a Low Country Seafood Boil sponsored by the Jaffer Family Foundation. We extend our gratitude to Florida Fresh Seafood and C. Preston's Produce for their partnership in this event.

This past week, we celebrated our interns, an incredible opportunity to work with passionate individuals through our partnership with the UCF School of Social Work. Both Kim and CJ, who are Master's level interns, quickly became integral parts of the program with their knowledge and dedication to caring for the individuals we serve.

As their internship comes to an end, we look forward to the successful journeys they will continue on, drawing from the valuable life experiences shared during their time with our organization. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Kim and CJ for their passion and commitment. On behalf of everyone at the Recovery House, our staff, families, and the community we serve,we extend our sincerest thanks. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and look forward to seeing where their journeys take them next!

Today, representatives from the Recovery House had the honor of attending the Seminole County Veterans Appreciation Luncheon, an event dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This luncheon is a special occasion that brings together community members and veterans to express gratitude for their sacrifices and dedication to our country.

Through the occasion, we take a moment to honor Ed Carr, the Executive Director of the Recovery House, who is not only a dedicated leader of the organization who helped save his life but also a proud veteran of the Air Force. Ed's commitment to service extends beyond his military career, he is passionately involved in advocating for individuals facing challenges such as substance abuse and homelessness. His work has made a significant positive impact on the lives of many in our community.

In reflecting on his journey, Ed often shares an important quote, "I've served my country, I've served my community, and now I serve men like me." This statement shows his dedication to helping others who are navigating similar struggles, ensuring that they receive the support and resources necessary for recovery and reintegration into society.

Recovery House extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the men and women who have served our country with courage and dedication.
