A New Perspective Counseling Center

A New Perspective Counseling Center Offering affordable services when it's convenient for you! Very often, people look for counseling when confronted with a crisis.

The counselors at A New Perspective work with individuals and families struggling with problems that interrupt their quality of life. Counseling can help you get through a crisis, however, once the crisis is over, it is important to explore the underlying situation behind it, and gain understanding of those thoughts and feelings. Speaking with someone who is trained to shed light on these areas may lead not only to relief of symptoms but increase your ability to live a more productive and positive lifestyle. One may also seek a therapist not because anything is going terribly wrong in their lives, but because something seems to be missing and they experience themselves as "stuck". At these times, therapy can be a way of setting the growth process in motion again. Each of us has the ability to heal and grow; therapy can provide the space and setting for this to happen. A New Perspective Counseling Center strives to meet the needs of all individuals in our community. We offer a sliding-fee scale to help ensure affordability as well as evening and weekend hours to fit your busy schedule. We take most private insurances as well as Medicaid.

Jennifer Vestal, MA, LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Clinical Director

Jen attended UCF where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, a unique and highly-esteemed applied program, which at the time there were approximately 10 of its kind in the nation.

Upon graduation, Jen co-founded ANP in an effort to get community services to Sanford, where she grew up.

Since opening her agency, Jen has strived to partner with as many organizations in her community as possible so that the families most in need can receive quality care.

Jen belongs to the Children's Mental Health Cabinet of Seminole County, a group of organizations working to assess, adapt, and provide services to meet the growing needs of children. She also is a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force, another county initiative for reducing instances of abuse.

Jen works in partnership with many colleges and universities to provide education and field experience to up-and-coming therapists and finds teaching to be one of her favorite aspects of her career.

Jen's main clinical focus is trauma and the effects it has on the development of children and adults. She has completed extensive adoption and foster care training with the primary focus being trauma, as well as trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy strategies. Jen is currently working toward becoming a certified trauma counselor which can take up to two years due to the rigorous amount of work and supervision required. Additionally, Jen is a certified trainer for the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting curriculum.

When not working at ANP, Jen enjoys spending time with her husband, children, friends and family as well as visiting new places and trying new foods! Her favorite things include drinking coffee, petting furry animals, and superhero shows/movies.

We say "What's shareable is bearable" for a reason! Counseling gives us an opportunity to say the things we've held in and sometimes just releasing it gives us the power to move forward.
