It’s vital for recovery that the addict take care of today NOW. Yes, there have been things done to and by the addict that will require some attention for healing in the future....but not NOW. NOW is the time for decision and making sure that there is no use, abuse, or self-destructive behavior that can end the game.

To the students, faculty, families, and everyone affected by the heartbreaking shooting at FSU—we are holding you close. No one should ever have to fear for their life in a place of learning, and yet far too many do.

This pain is especially heavy for those who already lived through the unimaginable—students who survived the Parkland shooting and are now reliving that trauma again. It should never happen once. It should never happen twice.

We stand with you. In grief. In outrage. In the hope that one day, safety will not be a privilege, but a right.

If you’re struggling in silence, you are not alone. Please reach out. Let someone in. You are not meant to carry this alone.

In the wake of David Siegel’s passing, we find it fitting to revisit and reflect on the powerful legacy his daughter Victoria left behind—and how that legacy continues to live on through our work and community.

At last year’s N.O.W. Matters More Foundation Golf Tournament, we introduced something we find incredibly meaningful: the Victoria Cup—a tribute in honor of Victoria Siegel, whose life, spirit, and story have touched so many.

Eighteen-year-old Victoria Siegel loved nature, art, animal rescue, and most of all, her large family. Her brother, David Jr., once said, “She was brave like my dad and had a caring heart and caring soul like my mom.”

Victoria tragically passed away on June 6, 2015, from a drug overdose. That same day, her parents, David and Jackie Siegel, made a promise to her—to fight for change and help others avoid the same fate. And they kept that promise. Through their advocacy and the creation of Victoria’s Voice Foundation, her name continues to make a difference in the fight against addiction.

Each year, the winners of our tournament will choose someone—alive or passed—who has struggled with or been lost to addiction to be honored on the Victoria Cup. Victoria was the very first name, and she always will be.

This tradition is our way of making sure every story counts, every name is remembered, and every life touched by addiction continues to inspire hope.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of David Siegel, a passionate advocate whose dedication to raising awareness about addiction and the drug epidemic has left an undeniable mark on our world. After the tragic passing of his daughter, Victoria, David devoted his life to fighting for those affected by substance use disorders. His voice was powerful, his mission heartfelt, and his support for causes like ours and his own, The Victoria’s Voice Foundation, was unwavering.

David’s impact extended far beyond his own story—he was a beacon of strength in the face of unimaginable grief, choosing to use his platform to educate, empower, and change lives. His work will continue to inspire us, and we are honored to have felt his support over the years.

We also ask that you keep his wife, Jackie, in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. Not only is she mourning the loss of her husband, but her sister also tragically passed away just days later due to co***ne laced with fentanyl—an accidental overdose and a sobering reminder of the deadly reality of today’s fentanyl crisis.

To those who are struggling or have lost someone to this epidemic, please know you are not alone. And to David—thank you. Your legacy will live on in every life we fight to save.
