18 Spiritual Awakening Signs
Let's talk about this terrifying and beautiful experience called the spiritual awakening process!
What is a spiritual awakening exactly?
Essentially, when we undergo a spiritual awakening, we literally “wake up” to life. We begin to question our old beliefs, habits, and social conditioning, and see that there is much more to life than what we have been taught.
You might experience a spiritual awakening spontaneously, or as a result of a traumatic experience. Most commonly, those that experience spiritual awakenings usually do so in the aftermath of a major life change, death, divorce, betrayal, trauma, accident, illness, and anything that is severely destabilizing.
But how do you know whether you’re going through one?
Here are some key signs:
-You feel completely lost and alone
-You feel as though your life is false
-You craving for meaning and purpose
-You begin asking deep questions
-You realize that a lot of what you’ve been taught is a lie
-You see through the illusions of society
-You see how unhappy most people are
-You want to ‘purge’ your life
-You experience heightened sensitivity and empathy
-You desire to be alone
-Conversations seem shallow
-You want to quit your job
-You thirst for authenticity and truth
-You become aware of your old negative habits
-You experience existential anxiety and/or depression
-You want to make the world a better place
-You want to deeply understand who you are
These are the majority of the signs but not all...
Stop and reflect for a moment, how many of these signs can you relate to? And how do you feel? It will be important for you to check in with yourself as you progress through this course. Above all, be gentle with yourself and go at your own pace.
WHY Are You Going Through a Spiritual Awakening?
There are many theories and explanations out there.
However, we believe that the spiritual awakening journey is the process of soul evolution and expansion. Everything in life matures, and that includes the soul, or the inner essence of who you are.
Like a snake shedding its skin or a caterpillar going through a metamorphosis, you too are destined for a ‘spiritual upgrade.’ This is an awkward and painful process because the old ‘you,’ the old consciousness, is dying and being replaced with something new and more advanced.
So essentially, you’re going through a spiritual awakening because your soul needs to grow, mature, and expand. Staying the same equals death and stagnation. Changing (even though it’s damn painful) is a good thing. Not only will you eventually feel more connected to everything, but you'll have the opportunity to find your ultimate life purpose and fulfill your destiny.
