Cada octubre, empezamos a vernos rodeados de rosa en las tiendas, el trabajo y nuestros teléfonos. Concientizar sobre el cáncer de mama es crucial, por eso estamos tan agradecidos con personas que promueven la equidad en salud como Yvette.

Como Coordinadora de Atención de Serve the People, Yvette trabaja incansablemente para apoyar a las pacientes en sus caminos hacia una vida saludable. Le apasiona liderar eventos con los Servicios de Mamografía Móvil de Alinea Medical Imaging. Queremos compartir por qué es importante para ella y para nosotros como organización impulsada por la comunidad latina.

La detección temprana es importante porque, si bien las mujeres hispanas y latinas tienen menos probabilidades que otros grupos de desarrollar cáncer de mama, tienen más probabilidades de ser diagnosticadas a una edad más temprana y con formas más agresivas de la enfermedad.

Each October, we start to be surrounded by pink in stores, at work, and on our phones. The conversation of Breast Cancer Awareness is a crucial one to have, which is why we’re so grateful for health-equity champions like Yvette.

As Serve the People’s Care Coordinator, Yvette works tirelessly to support patients on their health journeys. She’s passionate about leading events with Alinea Medical Imaging’s Mobile Mammography Services. We want to share why it matters to her and to us as a Latinx-powered organization.

Early detection matters because while Hispanic and Latina women are less likely than other groups to develop breast cancer, they are more likely to be diagnosed at a younger age and with more aggressive forms of the disease.

They may not be professional baseball players, but they're something better! Our PA's Community Health All-Stars. 🌟❤️
Physician Assistants are foundational to Serve the People. Their work tirelessly to care for their patients in the moment while building a plan to support their wellbeing long-term.
They field situations that come up like a pop flies with grace. They swing for the fences as they ensure the best possible health outcomes. To us, it's always a home run.

It was such a gift to spend our Saturday meeting all of the new additions of our growing community. Thank you all for welcoming us – we hope to see you all when we open our doors. 🫶❤️

Is it just us, or does carry more weight this year? For FQHC's like us, this work is necessary and a privilege. Our Behavioral Health team steps up to support patients on their healing journeys, no matter what they look like.

With their spirit of resilience in mind, we asked our mental health practitioners to share a piece of advice they would give to patients – but also to their peers in the field. When our cups are collectively full, we can all show up for each other. Make sure to take care of yourself and check on your loved ones today. 🫶❤️

Last year, we sat down with our friend Ambrocio to learn about how his healthcare journey brought him to Serve the People's Vision Clinic.

Ambrocio was his father's caregiver and often put his own health needs aside. In the midst of attending to his father, Ambrocio began losing his vision to diabetic retinopathy. Access to affordable vision care and time to be seen wasn't always on his side.

On , Ambrocio's story galvanizes us to fight to continue providing access to sight-saving care that is accessible, available, and affordable for everyone, no matter what. 🫶❤️
