Elderly people need care and comfort to lead a healthy life without worries. As age progresses, there are many factors that affect old age. One of them is medical issues which include blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, cholesterol, and much more. However, this is not the only problem that affects old age. Negligence from the younger generation can also influence the health of the elderly.

This weekend, Professional Pharmacy went to Dr. Kelvin Mai’s event celebrating elderly health. Celebrating them once in a while goes a long way. Without our elders, we would not be here today. It is important to let your elders know that you still care and notice them.

HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

Happy Halloween! Professional Pharmacy is ready for Halloween, are you? Here are some tips to ensure tonight stays a fun and safe night.

- Be wary of cars when using crosswalks and make sure to fully look left or right before crossing.
- Stay in big groups and avoid dark areas or houses.
- Keeping a flashlight or glow stick on you for visibility.
- Providing adult supervision if needed.
- Remain alert if driving around.
- Be aware of your surroundings and keep a lookout for children.
- Inspect candy to make sure it is safe to eat.

MEDICARE PART D

There are new changes coming to Medicare Part D in 2023. Some of the changes include no out of pocket costs for CDC recommended vaccines covered by part D, like Shingles or Tdap. Additionally, the co-pays on insulin will be limited at $35 a month.

Part D deductibles will be increased by $25 in the year of 2023 making it a maximum of $505. Also, patients may hear that if they enter catastrophic coverage, they will not have to pay anything. These changes, however, won’t happen until around 2024.

If you need any help or have questions about choosing a plan, come visit or call in to any Professional Pharmacy nearby and our staff will try their best to help you understand your choices and explore all your options. Patients who are currently happy with their current plan do not need to do anything to re-enroll in it.
