Planned Parenthood WIC

Planned Parenthood WIC WIC — the Women, Infants, and Children program — is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women, new mothers, and young children eat well and stay healthy.

The WIC program joined Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties in 1995 to provide women and their families with nutrition education to promote healthy lives. Currently, our WIC services are being offered only in Orange County. Through WIC, families receive a variety of comprehensive nutrition programs, including:

• Providing nutritious supplemental food vouchers for WIC-approved foods, such as cheese, milk, and cereals

• Helping women find prenatal care, health insurance, family planning options, and general medical care for the mother and child

• Providing nutrition education classes to promote healthy eating and active living

• Promoting and encouraging breastfeeding

• Offering clients health and nutrition education from Registered Dietitians, Nutrition Education Counselors, and Certified Lactation Educators

In observance of Thanksgiving, our office will be closed Thursday-Friday November 27 to the 28th.

We will resume normal operations on Monday, December 1st.

Parties, family dinners, and other gatherings where food is served are all part of the holiday cheer.🍽❤️But the joy can change to misery if food makes you or others ill. 😲🤒

To ensure holiday food safety, practice the “clean, separate, cook, and chill” principles. Wash hands and surfaces often, separate raw meats from other foods to avoid cross-contamination, cook all food to the proper internal temperature using a thermometer, and chill leftovers promptly at or below (40 ºF).💦🧼

🍒WIC and CalFresh are separate programs. Each program is funded and managed separately. CalFresh benefits delays do not affect WIC benefits or services. Both programs support food access for families.

Halloween is almost here!
While costumes and candy are fun, safety always comes first.
Remember to:
🦺 Pick costumes that are visible and fit well
🤲 Accompany little ghouls and goblins, or make sure they’re with a trusted adult
🚦 Follow crosswalks and be mindful of the road
🍬 Check all treats before indulging and keep an eye out for allergies

WIC is committed to serving and keeping California families informed. In California, WIC remains open, and families can still rely on their WIC benefits into November 2025.

Did you know? Not only can you spend your WIC Fruits and Vegetables Benefit at the grocery store, but you can also use it at WIC authorized farmers’ markets. Make sure to update your card to be able to do so. 🧑‍🌾🥦🍓❤️

Remember: The QR code on the WIC Card is used at farmers’ markets only,
while the magnetic stripe on the back of the card is used at grocery stores.

You can find WIC approved farmers market online at WICFarmers.ca.gov, MyFamily website or the California WIC app.
