Thursday, August 21st: Conservatorships and Power of Attorney

For parents and caregivers of youth ages 13 and up.

Learn about Supported Decision-Making (SDM), Conservatorships, and Power of Attorney.

In California, SDM is a process that allows individuals with disabilities to receive support in making their own decisions while still retaining their autonomy. It provides an alternative to conservatorship by enabling individuals to choose trusted supporters to help them understand, consider, and communicate their choices.

Children ages 1–4 are at greatest risk of drowning. Toddlers are mobile, curious and fast. They can fall in and drown quickly and silently without calling for help.
Constant adult supervision is key! Never leave young children alone around pools or near bodies of water, even for a few seconds.
