This Pride Month, we’re proud to amplify the work of Leah, one of our Support Managers here at IRI, who presented at the National APSE Conference in Washington, DC today!

"Supporting the Whole Person: Best Practice Recommendations at the Intersection of Disability and LGBTQ+ Identity," reminded us that true inclusion sees the whole person; and to achieve equity, we must include the voices at every intersection.

Thank you, Leah, for advancing inclusive practices and leading this critical conversation!

This Pride Month, we honor the strength, joy, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community and recommit to building a world rooted in equity, inclusion, and justice.

Pride is a celebration of identity, visibility, and the ongoing fight for equal rights. It’s a time to uplift LGBTQ+ voices, recognize the history of resistance, and stand in solidarity against discrimination in all its forms.

Everyone deserves to live freely, authentically, and with dignity. Together, let’s champion policies, communities, and cultures where equity isn’t just a goal, it’s a guarantee.

Each person’s mental health journey is unique, but one thing remains true: strong relationships and connected communities make a powerful difference. Supportive friends, families, and neighborhoods foster a sense of belonging that strengthens well-being and resilience.

Prioritizing self-care, reaching out for help, and having open conversations about mental health can break stigma and open doors to healing. When we support one another, we all thrive.

Mental and physical health are deeply connected—and caring for one means supporting the other.

Conditions like depression and anxiety can increase the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes. That’s why whole-person care matters. Regular physical activity, good nutrition, quality sleep, and strong support systems help improve both mental and physical well-being.

Integrated treatment—especially for co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions—can lead to better outcomes and lasting wellness. Early intervention and preventive care lay the foundation for a healthier future.

Let’s treat the mind and body together—for lifelong health. 💚

Our Story

IRI Mentorworks provides services to adults with disabilities to find employment in their community. We believe "Everybody Works".

For years, people with disabilities have been disenfranchised and told what they can’t do. Here at IRI, we focus on what people can do; celebrating them for their gifts, talents and differences. IRI doesn’t only support individuals with disabilities to find employment, but we also support and educate the larger community, specifically employers, on the advantages of hiring a person with a disability. As a grassroots non-profit organization, IRI has facilitated over 20,000 community job placements for persons with disabilities in the US and Australia. Based on these successful Integrated Work outcomes, IRI has been awarded several local, state, federal and international grants.

IRI also provides Supported and Independent Living services, Educational and Transition Consultation.
