Anna often dreamed of returning to her homeland of Germany. The Good Tree team saw how deeply she was connected to her German roots, so they decided to bring a piece of Germany to her. They prepared goulash and other traditional German dishes, creating a festive atmosphere filled with warmth and nostalgia. Residents and staff gathered to celebrate Anna’s heritage, sharing stories and learning more about German customs.

It was a big week for Billy, a resident of The Waterford at Mesquite. In honor of Father’s Day, the local mayor visited the community to recognize Billy as the oldest father living in Mesquite! Just a few days later, Billy celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends. The celebration was filled with laughter and plenty of birthday cake. Billy’s milestone serves as an inspiration to everyone in the community.

John, a Magnolia Trails resident at Georgetowne Place, grew up on a farm and spent his childhood driving tractors and milking cows. He often shared these fond memories, so the team knew exactly what would make the perfect Tree of Dreams by bringing him back to the farm! With his daughter and great-grandson in tow, John was thrilled to see how things have changed and deeply grateful for the experience. Great job, team!

The Waterford at Round Rock worked with resident Becky’s daughter to give her the surprise of a lifetime by restoring their family car, a 1965 Ford Mustang. Filled with memories of family vacations and drives with her late husband, Becky’s eyes filled with tears. The moment she saw the fully restored Mustang, she was overcome with emotion and gratitude. What a beautiful gift and a reminder of cherished memories!

Our Featured Residents for June:

Victor & Kathleen

Kathleen and Victor met in 1981 during a photoshoot for Hewlett Packard. Kathleen was a Designer and Victor was an Art Director in New York, Los Angeles, and San Franscisco. They got married 1 year later. They were married in a charming little church in Sausalito. They hired a ferry to cruise around San Francisco Bay for their reception. After their wedding, they flew to Greece for their honeymoon, stopping off in London on the way to meet Victor’s parents and his two children.

While honeymooning, they decided to retire from the corporate world sell all their “stuff” and live in Portugal. Victor told Kathleen “If we sell our cars we could live in Portugal for two years off the proceeds”. They took the train from Lisbon to the Algarve on the southern coast. They ended up in a small village called Albufeira. There they met a woman saying “rooms, rooms.” They ended up staying wither for 2 months.

Kathleen immediately got back to work, forming a fitness center called “On Your Toes” it was open for teenagers and their mothers and done in Portuguese. Meanwhile Victor was basking in the sun and learning to drink strong coffee with brandy chasers with the local fishermen. The couple eventually purchased a villa in Portugal.

Two years later they returned to San Francisco because they missed the rat race and hamburgers. Kathleen formed a design company called “Kathleen Elsey Design Inc” in SF and had clients such as Tivo and Hewlett Packard. Victor returned to the advertising world as well. In 1998 Kathleen closed her company to get back into fine arts, to paint, and to teach painting. Her work has been exhibited internationally she is currently represented by a gallery in Montecito.

Victor has lived here at VSB for 18 months. Kathleen has lived here since June 2024. You can find Kathleen and Victor at our class “Sharing Memories” where they frequently share their art. If you see them around the community congratulate them on their life adventure!
