The Santa Barbara Birth Center is looking to hire a new Midwife Assistant to work alongside our midwives at home and birth center births. We are looking for someone who has experience providing labor support (experienced doula) or someone with nursing, EMS or CNA experience. You must be able to work on-call shifts at night and during the day. We need someone with gentle energy who is knowledgeable about birth.
You will be trained to assist with hands-on skills for birth and the immediate postpartum as well as how to chart in our EHR system.
Our team is a family. We work together closely and aim to have flexibility in scheduling. Our assistants are all working doulas and support each other in their on-call schedules.

Role Description 🩵
We have an opening for a Certified Nurse Midwife or Licensed Midwife to join our collaborative team!

Timeline: Training and onboarding begin mid-fall 2025, with position starting December 2025.

What You’ll Do:

Provide comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care in both home and birth center settings
Manage client communication, documentation, and clinical responsibilities
Design your own clinic schedule. Our supportive call-sharing model means you’re never alone on-call, and we prioritize covering each other for life’s meaningful events.
Maintain our high standards for clinical excellence and warm, personalized care
Collaborate closely with community healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes
