New guidelines in effect as of January, 1 2021 related to vaccine exemptions. Anyone needing a vaccine exemption is required to go to the CDPH to initiate the process. Physicians are then able to authorize the exemption based upon clinical assessment and standard guidelines provided by the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics. Petite Pediatrics adheres to the recommended childhood immunization schedule and will consider vaccine exemptions in medically appropriate circumstances. The COVID19 vaccine is not approved for children under 16 years of age and is not a mandated vaccine at this time. As clinical evaluation and research allows, pediatric patients will likely be able to get the COVID19 vaccine in the future. Petite Pediatrics is prepared to provide this vaccine to children and their caregivers as soon as we are able to. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated! In the meantime, stay safe, wear your mask and be aware of the symptoms of COVID19. Please contact your doctor or our office if you or your child needs to be evaluated or tested for COVID19. We do testing onsite with same-day results for the antigen and we will soon have molecular testing capacity with PCR testing, which is the gold-standard for detecting the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
