Article about acupuncture as a supportive tool in labor and birth prep on my bloggy-blog! Read about how and why, plus some research about adjunct therapies for labor support.
Often as consumers of evidence based medicine we want to draw a single line between this particular therapy and that particular outcome. However, we sometimes have to look with a wider lens. I think a smattering of therapies to support body, mind, heart and nervous system during intense processes like labor are helpful. So I give a little list to possibly incorporate as one prepares for labor (or really any potent portal asked of the body).
In the case of acupuncture there are sometimes protocols of points to use, but one also has to look at each individual presentation to tailor a treatment to what is needed. The points used for someone with anxiety would differ from the points used for a woman with fatigue. This makes studying acupuncture and its outcomes a little tricky. Just a reminder to broaden the search for helpful information.
