Tawni’s Mobile Petting Zoo rolled into Maravilla with Peking ducks, sheep, 7-month-old goats, a Chinese Crested chicken, and a 37-year-old donkey named Chloe who absolutely stole the show! For some, it was a first-ever brush with farm life; for others, it brought back the rhythm of mornings in the barn and animals they once tended. Maravilla leveled up our monthly Farmer's Market by partnering with Tri Valley Produce, The Honey Man, SB Bubble Guy, and our own family members who cooked fresh street tacos on the patio!

Santa Ynez Valley wine was a crowd favorite, arts & crafts rounded out the scene, and then local growers brought farm-to-table to life, right here in the Goodland. Staff, residents, family, and friends, all came together for a market that really feels like us. 🌽🍷🌮

“We interrupt this program…” only to report a room full of laughter!

The Maravilla Radio Players staged a live, resident-created take on Orson Welles's "War of the Worlds" broadcast from Halloween 1938, complete with tongue-in-cheek “reports” and spot-on audience participation. Director Dennis (Denny) McClatchey, drawing on his broadcasting background, turned a quiet afternoon into a witty, well-timed romp for us all. 🎙️👏

Maravilla's resident-run Spanish class, facilitated by Rosario and Nina, offers us an engaging and effective introduction to the Spanish language! 🇪🇸

This group includes a wide range of experience levels, and for many, this is their very first time learning a new language. So far, more than 25 residents have participated, developing foundational conversational skills and building confidence as they practice speaking in basic sentences.

Their next assignment? Engaging in short conversations with our Spanish-speaking staff members: an exciting opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in real-life interactions! This initiative is a wonderful example of our community’s commitment to lifelong learning and the joy we find in embracing new knowledge at any age!

Saturday afternoons are for friendly competition and quick thinking during Maravilla's weekly Trivia game! 🧠

Maravilla's stage came alive with Tatjana, an international performer whose talent knows no borders! 🎤🌟

Originally from the former Yugoslavia, Tatjana has spent over 25 years captivating audiences across Europe and the U.S. with her dynamic one-woman shows. Featuring Broadway classics, rock, pop, and spot-on impersonations, her performances blend genres and energy into a fast-paced experience. We were thrilled to welcome her to the community for a show that was every bit as dazzling as her career. Thanks again, Tatiana!

Yoga at Maravilla has quite dedicated group! Tara Brown, one of our neighbors, has thirty years of teaching experience, and she guides our group through poses like Downward Dog and Chaturanga. We're grateful she takes extra time for deep stretches and a look at the tradition behind the practice.

Newcomers are welcomed, shown the basics, and given space to move at their own pace. It's an hour that leaves everyone feeling much more grounded at the end! 🧘‍♀️

In our Craft Room, the "Sew-It-Alls" meet each week for a working morning at the machines. Some are Maravilla residents; others drive in from nearby neighborhoods, and it's a tradition more than twenty years strong! Our projects rotate, and sometimes, it's colorful lap quilts and Fiddle Quilts that support neighbors living with Alzheimer’s, sometimes, the occasional experiment. 🧵 🪡

One member even quilted a pair of tennis shoes! With Ettalee Kheen hosting, the room stays busy and so do our hands, making gifts for people who will use them. 💛

First Fridays at Maravilla come with color and movement! Karen Putnam’s “Art from the Heart” brings her troupe to guide creative play for all ages and abilities- with paint and a lot of confidence-building along the way.

With 40 years of teaching as an artist and dancer, she meets people where they are and helps them make something they’re proud to share. Thank you for a joyful standing date, Karen! 🎨💛

Carpinteria State Beach looked a little cleaner on Saturday thanks to our Maravilla volunteers and our partners at Heal the Ocean! After the cleanup, we stopped by The famous "Spot" restaurant for a well earned bite. Grateful for the turnout and a quarterly effort we’re proud to support! 🌊
