A new book just hit the stores, and it’s a gem. BALLISTIC: THE NEW SCIENCE OF INJURY-FREE ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE is close to our LAB hearts. The author, Henry Abbott, writes an “inspiring narrative that tells the story of sports scientist [and LAB owner] Dr. Marcus Elliott and the Peak Performance Project who use technology to study how athletes move and why they get hurt.” Henry Abbott spent a week with us at THE LAB, going through the same assessments and training as our members, while doing research for BALLISTIC. Congratulations Henry, and we can’t wait to host you and Marcus at THE LAB for a discussion and Q&A on June 13.

Big news for THE LAB staff member Jill Martin. For those of you who do not know, we have the privilege of having Jill Martin on staff with us at THE LAB. She plays a pivotal role as our director of our movement classes. BUT, did you know she’s a dominant Pickleball player and student of the sport? Read below to learn more about her most recent book release. 


Not just another book about how to play pickleball, “Pickleball Mindset” dives deep into how to think on the court. Coauthored by Dayne Gingrich, top senior professional pickleball player and renowned mental performance coach; and Jill Martin, an attorney turned personal trainer and pickleball fanatic, the book follows their year-long coaching relationship in which Jill seeks to become mentally dominant on and off the court. In each chapter, Dayne explores the what, why, and how of mental performance strategies he has used in his athletic and coaching career. Jill then shares her real-time bumps, bruises, and celebrations as she works to incorporate each strategy into both her game and life.
