Great advice! Stay well 🌸

Spring has sprung, and the team here at PRN has some tips to stay healthy as the warm weather and new beginnings approach. 🌸☀️🌱

Here are seven tips from our expert PTs on fall prevention, everyday exercise, and more:

🏡Spring is a great time to get rid of loose throw rugs and clear pathways in the home to prevent falls, slips, and trips.

📦When picking up heavy boxes that you may be tossing, get as close to the box as possible, squat to pick it up (use your legs), and keep it close to your body to avoid straining your back.

🧹Turn cleaning into exercise — squat each time you pick something up, lunge while vacuuming, or balance on one leg (if safe) while cleaning countertops/shelves.

👩‍🌾Stretch in between! We don't realize how much work it is to clean, garden, etc...make sure you take breaks and stretch out any achy areas.

🚶Get outside and go for a walk. A walk a day has many physical and mental benefits.

💧Be sure to be prepared when you do venture outdoors. Items to consider are - plenty of water, sunscreen, and good shoes.

👟Proper walking shoes provide adequate support for your feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back. They can also help prevent common injuries such as plantar fasciitis, shin splints, and bursitis. Some experts recommend replacing your walking shoes after 300-500 miles to ensure adequate support and cushion.
