Talking about forgiveness causes us to reflect on some very personal, hurtful experiences in our lives. We don't want to think about those times, and we find ourselves struggling to resolve the memories of pain and inflicted wounds by others.
Forgiveness cancels a debt someone owes us and restores the relationship. It is the only solution in a world ridden with sin and evil to help us start over with people and with God.

TURN YOUR ANGER INTO FORGIVENESS
What are some of the most challenging things to forgive?

People who are manipulative, abusive, irresponsible, who lie, cheat, are arrogant, disrespectful or inconsiderate? Forgiveness is a difficult topic because it calls us as human beings to a higher standard . . . the standard of grace and mercy. But when we don't forgive . . . we run into a greater human dilemma: that of unforgiveness . . . where the pain of resentment and bitterness flows through our veins, quenching our spirits, breeding a cynicism about life, people, and God. Unforgiveness encases us in a miserable existence, changing our perception of the world and people from positive to negative, causing us to withdraw, priming us the world and people as hostile.

Forgiveness is a choice, not a feeling. Forgiveness is not fair, it is not easy, and it is hard work. Forgiveness is when you decide to let someone else off the hook - when you elect to not get paid back or take revenge for a wrongdoing. When you withhold punishment, forgiveness is not turning a blind eye or ignoring what happened. Forgiveness is not forgetting or denying what happened.
Forgiveness is not the same as reconciliation. Forgiveness does not justify, approve or excuse the offense or offender. Forgiveness does not always remove the consequences of the offense from the offender. Forgiveness is a process that may include confrontation and exhortation.

So how can you and I practically forgive someone who has hurt us? Here are some Steps to Forgiveness.
Applying these steps to our lives can deliver us from bitterness and help us work toward forgiveness:

1. Discover forgiveness: When you discover and experience forgiveness deeply in you own life, you have a foundation to offer forgiveness to those who have offended you. Many find God's forgiveness helps them forgive others also.
2. Chose to forgive: You must make the decision to let go of bitterness and revenge and forgive others.
3. Renew your mind: Challenge your mind with the truth and about how you need to be forgiven too. You may consider seeking your Higher Power for help in forgiving.
4. Grant mercy: Empathize with those who have injured you. Mrs. Washington's acceptance of her daughter's killer was based on her faith and decision to grant forgiveness and mercy.
5. Remember - forgiveness is a process: If you are stuck in unforgiveness, you can talk and pray with a confidante, a pastor, or a counselor to help you deal with the resentment and hurt you still feel. This will provide a context for release (of the painful feelings you are experiencing), support, and a better understanding of the person and situation.

Here are some thoughts: You may decide that a friendship may change because that person cannot keep confidences. A change in the relationship is not the same as forgiveness. You can let go of the blame and let go of any punishment and continuing to hold the wrong against a person - but, you may learn something about that person's character:

... that they can no longer be trusted with confidences or
... that they are not empathetic and tend to be harsh when you divulge a weakness about yourself or
... that they are not responsible in keeping their commitments.

Therefore, you may forgive them, but, will no longer:
... become vulnerable and share your mistakes,
... share your problems with them,
... rely on or ask them to do a project with you, etc.

Forgiveness does not mean that you will:
... trust all people on the same level or
... expect all people to live up to a certain standards or
... relinquish the consequences for their wrongful behavior.

On the one hand, you can give someone another chance to start over but, on the other hand, there are times when you will need to set boundaries. Forgiveness doesn't equal trust! Forgiveness doesn't mean there won't be consequences for the person. Forgiveness does not mean that boundaries will remain the same.

Forgiveness will make you wiser. Forgiveness will challenge you at times to be vulnerable and to trust again. But, more importantly, forgiveness will set you free!

An "In-Person" WebCasted Classroom.
Groups are a maximum of 12 Participants per facilitator. The Facilitator(s) and the Participants who have reserved the seat for the particular Group can visually see one another, participate in the subject matter, contribute on the topic with their peers, share personal stories. The facilitator notes alertness, attentiveness, comprehension and participation levels and any other important information and adds them to the clients chart for ongoing review.

Court Ordered Classes was developed in 2007 to assist those who were physically unable to make it to their local classrooms to be able to get the services and intervention that they needed. These persons may have been handicapped, mentally ill, incarcerated, or they may have been hundreds of miles from any intervention program provider, and, in some cases, public figures, professional athletes or other celebrities that may have otherwise disrupted the classroom by merely their presence. Now Their technologically advanced “live group meeting” software allows course instructors to have classroom style group sessions with participants from all over the nation (students from Los Angeles, New York, Alaska, Hawaii and so on) to teach and collect in-debt information, while bringing a multitude of diverse cultures, backgrounds, beliefs, lifestyles and other differences, together for one common cause in one class. This “live group meeting” adheres to and surpasses all State standards and laws regarding Domestic Violence and Batterers Intervention Programs and has since been put to use by many of the Children's, Family, Drug and Criminal Courts throughout the whole Nation.
