🎬 is at the heart of the critically acclaimed new movie “SHEEPDOG.”

The film features a VA trauma therapist inspired by NASW Member Dr. Tara Consolino, DSW, LMSW, offering a rare and authentic portrayal of social work, trauma-informed care, and Post-Traumatic Growth. Oscar-nominee Virginia Madsen plays the therapist.

Written and directed by its star, Steven Grayhm, it also stars Vondie Curtis Hall. SHEEPDOG tells the story of a combat veteran navigating trauma, family, and the long road back to himself. Shot in Western Massachusetts, the film has been called “One of the best films of the year” and opens nationwide this weekend.

“If we are able to save a single life with this movie, it will be the greatest Hollywood success story.” —Steven Grayhm

I rarely comment on posts. Please Pay Attention to this one.
The president signed a letter terminating funding for mental health and/or substance abuse programs. For news coverage, i saw the article in NPR news this morning. A majority of the funding for these programs comes from organizations like SAMHSA and Health & Human Services. Many of the others are funded through MedicAid (in California it's called MediCal). So services like 988, mental health mobile response teams, etc may all be impacted.

Now's the time to Make Some Noise folks! We cannot have a new form of abandoning folks who have mental illness like what happened in the 1980's . We're still making payments on that decision. So write, call, join groups, do whatever you can. Oh! BTW, if you don't like homelessness, some of this money that's being evaporated with the stroke of a pen impacts money to house people who have mental illness and/or substance abuse. Without these programs in place, do you predict the numbers of Unhoused families will go up, go down, or stay about the same???

Cuts will further strain mental health and substance use services across the country  Arlington, VA – Late
