Three years ago, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline launched nationwide and since then has connected more than 16 million people to lifesaving mental health support. This milestone is a direct result of tireless advocacy and a shared belief that everyone deserves compassionate care in crisis.

But there’s more work to do.

As we celebrate the progress of 988, we must also speak out against recent federal cuts to specialized support for LGBTQ+ youth—cuts that will leave some of our most vulnerable without affirming, identity-specific care. 988 should be strong, equitable, and accessible to everyone. That means continued investment, public awareness, and protections for the communities most at risk.

If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 for 24/7, confidential support.

An immigration sweep on June 19, in which a woman had a heart attack, is one of many that have taken place in Southern California and encapsulates the chaotic methods employed to detain people over the last month.

Not all disabilities are visible! A majority of disabilities are ones that aren't immediately apparent to others.

Don't judge a book by its cover, and if you have an invisible disability, we see you, and you're valid.

Three years ago, Congress created the 988 Lifeline to give those in a crisis the help they deserve. Since then, over 16.5 million people have contacted 988 for help with mental health-related emergencies.

988 and 911 serve different but equally important roles: 988 connects people to trained mental health professionals for su***de and substance abuse support, while 911 dispatches first responders for physical dangers needing police, fires, or medical emergencies.

I will continue to work with my colleagues to strengthen both services and expand care.
