Sometimes learning challenges are easy to identify. Other times, they are more subtle.
You might notice:
-Your child is working harder than their peers but not seeing the same results
-Homework takes an unusually long time or causes frequent frustration
-Teachers mention concerns, but there are no clear answers yet
-Your child’s confidence is starting to decline
These signs can point to an underlying learning difference such as dyslexia, ADHD, or other processing challenges. Without clear answers, it’s easy for both parents and children to feel stuck. Does this sound like your child? If so, please reach out! Let's talk about what steps you can take today to get your child back on track for tomorrow.

When most people hear the word dyslexia, they immediately think of reading challenges.

But dyslexia often affects much more than reading.

Many children with dyslexia also experience:

• Difficulty with short-term memory
• Challenges with spatial awareness (like left vs. right or organizing work on a page)
• Trouble navigating familiar places
• Difficulty remembering numbers or sequences
• Struggles processing verbally spelled words

These challenges are often overlooked or misunderstood—but they can significantly impact a child’s daily life and confidence.

It’s important to remember: dyslexia is not a reflection of intelligence. Many individuals with dyslexia are creative, intuitive, and strong problem-solvers.

If your child is showing some of these signs, a psychoeducational evaluation can help you better understand their learning profile and determine the right support.

What's the difference between an IEP and a 504 Plan?

Here’s a simple way to think about it:

IEP (Individualized Education Program):
An IEP is for students who qualify for special education services. It includes individualized goals and specialized instruction designed to meet a child’s unique learning needs.

504 Plan:
A 504 Plan is for students who need accommodations to perform in the classroom, but do not require specialized instruction. This might include things like extra time on tests, movement breaks, or seating adjustments. A 504 can also provide for physical accommodations like elevator access, ramps and accessible tables.

The biggest difference:
An IEP provides instruction.
A 504 Plan provides access.

If your child is struggling and you’re not sure where to start, a psychoeducational evaluation can help identify their strengths, challenges, and the right type of support.

Many parents notice that their child is struggling in school but aren’t sure why.

It can be confusing when a child is bright, curious, and capable — yet reading, writing, or math continues to feel unusually difficult.

In this article, I explain five of the most common learning disabilities that affect students and how they may show up in the classroom.

You’ll learn about:
✔ Dyslexia (reading difficulties)
✔ Dysgraphia (writing challenges)
✔ Dyscalculia (math difficulties)
✔ ADHD and attention-related learning challenges
✔ Executive functioning difficulties

Understanding the reason behind a child’s struggles can make a huge difference in finding the right support.

If you’ve been wondering whether something more may be going on with your child’s learning, this article is a helpful place to start.

Many parents wonder what actually happens during an ADHD evaluation.

If your child struggles with focus, organization, or impulsivity, you may have considered testing — but the process can feel unclear or even intimidating.

In reality, ADHD testing is not just a single test. A comprehensive evaluation looks at multiple areas to understand how a child thinks, learns, and processes information.

In this article, I explain:
✔ What ADHD testing typically involves
✔ The types of assessments used
✔ How attention, memory, and processing are evaluated
✔ How testing helps guide school accommodations and support

The goal isn’t just a diagnosis — it’s gaining a clear picture of your child’s learning profile so the right strategies can be put in place.
