Let's talk about what perimenopause care typically looks like.

In your annual exam, you mention you're tired or your periods are weird. Basic labs. Everything's "normal"…and that's it.

Here's the problem: perimenopause is the most hormonally volatile decade of your life. Things change monthly, sometimes weekly.

A once-a-year visit with basic labs just isn't sufficient.

Real perimenopause care requires:

• Symptom tracking over time
• Understanding hormone patterns in context
• Comprehensive testing (thyroid, metabolic health, stress hormones—not just estrogen)
• Ongoing support
• A provider who knows what perimenopause looks like and what treatments really work

This transition lasts 5-10 years. You need a partner in your healthcare, not a once-a-year checkbox.
This kind of support exists. You just have to know where to look.

If you're a woman, odds are at some point in your life you've had symptoms written off by a healthcare provider.

And perimenopause? That's when medical gaslighting really hits hard.

Let me know if any of these sound familiar:

• "You're too young to be in menopause."
• "It's probably just stress. Have you tried yoga?"
• "Your labs are normal, so you're fine."
• "Have you tried eating less and exercising more?"
• "This is just part of aging. You'll have to deal with it."

These responses aren’t good enough.

Here's the reality:

✓ Perimenopause can start in your late 30s or early 40s—you're not "too young."

✓ Yes, stress impacts hormones. But dismissing real symptoms as "just stress" without addressing what's happening hormonally doesn't help anyone.

✓ "Normal" labs during perimenopause mean almost nothing. Hormones fluctuate wildly. One snapshot can't capture the full picture.

✓ Weight gain in perimenopause is hormonally driven—not a willpower problem.

✓ These symptoms aren't "just part of aging." They're treatable.

You know your body better than anyone. If something feels off, it is.

If you're feeling confused about what's happening in your body, it's not because you're going crazy.

It's because nobody taught you this.

Nobody talks about perimenopause. Not our mothers (who likely went through it in silence). Not our doctors (who receive minimal training on it). Not the healthcare system (which has historically dismissed women's health concerns).

Most medical professionals receive very little education on perimenopause and menopause—often just a brief section in a larger women's health curriculum. So they're not trained to connect the dots between insomnia and declining progesterone. They don't treat hot flashes that start in your early 40s, not just "once you're menopausal."

They do what they're trained to do: prescribe antidepressants for mood, sleep aids for insomnia, pain medication for joint pain. They often treat symptoms in isolation without addressing the root cause.

When you YOURSELF actually understand what's actually happening in your body, everything gets easier. You can advocate for yourself and make informed decisions.

When most people think about perimenopause, they think about estrogen.

And yes, estrogen matters—a lot. But if that's the only hormone you're thinking about, you're missing five others that are just as important.

Perimenopause is a multi-hormone transition. And these hormones don't operate in isolation—they all talk to each other.

If your progesterone drops, your sleep suffers and anxiety increases. If your cortisol is chronically elevated from stress, it disrupts every other hormone. If your thyroid isn't tested properly, you might be dealing with fatigue and weight gain that won't respond to typical interventions.

This is why treating perimenopause effectively requires looking at the whole system—not just prescribing estrogen and calling it done.

When I work with patients, I'm looking at:
✓ Estrogen and progesterone patterns
✓ Testosterone levels (yes, even in women)
✓ Thyroid function (comprehensive panels, not just TSH)
✓ Cortisol and stress response
✓ Insulin and blood sugar regulation

Because everything affects everything.

You leave your doctor's office more confused than when you arrived.

"Your labs are normal. Come back next year."

But you're exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix. Your brain feels foggy. You're lying awake at 3am. Your mood feels different—more anxious, more irritable, more off.

Here's what I need you to understand: labs aren't designed to capture perimenopause.

Often, hormones aren't even checked when you come in with these symptoms. When they are tested, it's not done in a way that captures the wild fluctuations happening during this transition.

Perimenopause hormones change dramatically—day to day, sometimes hour to hour. Your estrogen might surge one day and crash the next. Your progesterone shifts as ovulation becomes irregular.

So when your doctor runs labs on a random Tuesday and says "everything looks fine," that snapshot tells you almost nothing about what's really happening in your body over time.

This is why your symptoms are actually more reliable than lab numbers when it comes to understanding perimenopause.

Your body is communicating through insomnia, mood changes, weight gain, brain fog, energy crashes. These are clues about what's happening underneath the surface.

You can use your symptoms as a way to understand your body and guide treatment—even without labs that "prove" you're in perimenopause.

If you're wondering what your symptoms are telling you and what stage you might be in, I created a free guide that walks you through how to decipher what your body is communicating.

Comment "PLAYBOOK" below and I'll send you the free Perimenopause Playbook.

You'll learn how to use your symptoms to understand what steps you can take next to manage them—even without having labs.

You don’t need another influencer’s opinion.

You need a framework from someone who actually treats real women.

After 10+ years treating women navigating perimenopause, here’s what I know:

There’s so much conflicting information out there—wellness influencers, supplement companies, horror stories, miracle cures. And most of it is either too generic, too fear-based, or no applicable to YOU.

What’s missing is a clear, grounded framework that helps you understand:
• What’s actually happening in your body
• What stage of perimenopause you’re in
• What your symptoms mean
• What your treatment options are
• How to advocate for yourself

You don’t have to jump into treatment right away. But you do need to understand what’s happening so you can make informed decisions when you’re ready.

That’s why I’m creating my mew program, Navigating Perimenopause- an 8-week, doctor-led program designed to give you clarity, confidence, and a personalized roadmap through this transition.

Fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, mood swings, weight gain, joint pain, low libido—these aren’t “just part of aging.”

Your symptoms are clues. The way your body speaks to you.

Even when lab work doesn’t show anything conclusive, your body is communicating about what’s happening underneath the surface.

But too often, women are told:
• “You’re too young for menopause.”
• “It’s probably just stress.”
• “Have you tried eating less and exercising more?”
• “This is normal for your age.”

These responses aren’t good medicine.

You deserve a doctor who helps you interpret the messages your body is giving you and supports you accordingly.

After treating hundreds of women navigating perimenopause, I’ve learned that symptoms are often more reliable than lab numbers when it comes to understanding what stage you’re in and what’s actually happening hormonally.

If you’re experiencing symptoms—even if your labs look “normal”—something is happening.

If you’re in your late 30s and early 40s and your body feels off—your sleep, your mood, your energy, something just doesn’t feel right—you’re not imagining it.

Perimenopause can start in your late 30s or early 40s. Sometimes even earlier.

But most women have no idea what to expect because nobody talks about it. Not our mothers. Not our doctors. Definitely not the healthcare system.

And here’s the tricky part: symptoms often start YEARS before anything shows up on lab work.

You might notice:
• Sleep getting worse
• Mood swings or increased anxiety
• Brain fog or memory issues
• Weight gain (especially around your middle)
• Changes in your cycle—shorter, longer, heavier, more unpredictable
• Lower stress tolerance

These are early signs. And they’re valid—even if your doctor tells you “you’re too young” or “your labs look fine.”

Your body is communicating. We just have to understand what it’s saying.
