Dr. Amanda Fargo I provide adult therapy to professionals, parents and college/graduate students.

I also consult with venture capital firms enhancing investor confidence through a better understanding of the founding teams they are currently or considering investing in. I have a doctorate in clinical psychology and am a practicing licensed psychologist in California. For the last 16 years I have worked successfully with a wide range of clients including professionals, parents and students. Eleven years into my career I co-founded The Santa Cruz Wellness Center, a collection of skilled and talented mainstream and alternative practitioners. To better serve busy executives, entrepreneurs and professionals in the Bay Area and throughout California I offer individual online therapy via secure video services. In 2018, my love of the social sciences led to a new application of psychology; the development of a service focused on supporting VC's investment confidence through informed human capital. My goal is to make understanding and supporting the founding teams a component to the venture capital, private equity and angel investor due diligence process.

I want to be extremely honest with you. As a whole, we suck at listening. Why? Because it takes a lot of self control and focus.

In today's fast-paced world, distractions like smartphones and multitasking divert attention away from the speaker, making it difficult to fully engage and comprehend. Look around, we’re all doing it. Amiright?

Sometimes we focus more on formulating our response while the other person is speaking, leading to incomplete understanding and missed nuances.

We can also have preconceived notions and biases which cloud our ability to truly hear what's being said. We might interpret information based on our assumptions rather than the speaker's intended message.
Don't fret, it’s VERY possible to strengthen the skill and have an immediate benefit to your relationships and organization.

Deep breaths when you wake up helps you relieve muscle stiffness, gets more oxygen into your blood and this results in increased energy levels.

Deep breaths before you sleep helps your body relax and slows down your heart rate making it easier to fall asleep.

Happy Self Care day! Today I am going to be talking about self-soothing. Self-soothing refers to any behavior an individual uses to regulate their emotional state by themselves. Here are a few of my favorite self-soothing techniques:
