Happy National Pajama Day! While we’re all snuggled up in our coziest PJs, let’s also remember to stay safe when we head out on the water.

A Lifejacket, like your favorite PJs provides a feeling of safety when we need it most.

Whether you’re lounging or boating, a life jacket is just as important as your favorite pair of pajamas! It’s always better to be safe than sorry—because safety never goes out of style. 🌊🛟

We'd like to give a huge shout out to this heroic young man, Lazaro Perez.

While visiting Lake Nacimiento Resort on 8/18/2024 with his family, Lazaro observed a seven year old child fall off a tube near the shoreline. The child was not wearing a life jacket and immediately went under the water. When Lazaro did not see the child resurface he immediately jumped into action swimming out to the child, locating him, and then bringing him to the shoreline. Monterey County Park Rangers, Cal Fire Station 33, and San Luis Ambulance evaluated the patient and he was later transported by family members to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

Thank you, Lazaro, you truly saved the day!

🌟 Shout-out to Andrew Niquette 🌟, who is both AUXPA1 and AUXOP qualified, and currently serves as the National Division Chief – Publications, overseeing the Auxiliary’s largest national division, which produces the Navigator annual magazine and the Navigator Express e-magazine.

A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Auxiliarist Niquette was interviewed in June 2023 for a Coast Guard Auxiliary blog article and asked what Pride Month meant to him. He stated “to me, Pride Month is simply a highlighted extension of our mission to be all-inclusive to everyone that has taken the leap to become America's Volunteer Guardians. Our diversity efforts and commitment to showcasing this diversity at all levels of the Auxiliary never starts or ends on any particular day or month, because pride is absolute. But what Pride Month accomplishes for us all is showing our peers, our teams, and our leaders that no matter our pronouns, orientations, or identities, it will never negate any of our abilities to contribute our various backgrounds and talents to ”. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈
