I’ve been reading so many beautiful words of Andrea Gibson this week of her passing while working with patients at the FQHC I practice in. Her vibrant spirit and approach to death were a balm to those who hurt. And it’s a world of hurt out here for so many. Reading the headlines every day is its own particular heartbreak, but to work with individuals who are downstream of big government decisions—all of us really—drives home how isolation compounds pain, mental illness and poverty. It’s one of the things I and my patients love about community acupuncture. In a room together, the healing amplifies. For a little while, we see and feel how we are all in it together. The more we know that, the stronger we are. Andrea was a spreader of light and love. Thank you, Andrea, for the inspiration.
