CALL FOR AUTHORS

A new anthology, Children of Manic Depressive Parents, is seeking submissions, up to 7500 words. Deadline January 30, 2022. Part of a book series called Creativity and Madness, Psychological Studies of Art and Artists. Book focuses on the intersection of mental health and creativity. Essays, poetry, and other relevant submissions considered. Seeking personal stories and emotional reactions as well as intellectual perspectives that have helped you deal with emotional issues.

Welcoming submissions from children of manic depressive parents AND from parents with manic depression, sharing your experiences raising your children. Authors of essays chosen for publication will be notified by March 1, 2022. Editors reserve right to edit submissions; authors will have right to approve such edits prior to publication.

Please submit in MS Word, 12 point, Arial, double-spaced, 1 inch margin, paginated. Please put name on top with title, date of submission, and word count. No royalities or payment, free copy of book.

A Nod To Thanksgiving

Gratitude platitudes abound
in a horn of plenty stuffed

with corny sentiments, and
some might flip you the bird

if you dare dream beyond
the edges of the Grand Table

that drips with waterfalls of gravy
flowing improbably upstream

to feed a few while the rest
hunger for a glimpse of the

true source, they know, we know,
that you cannot eat your pennies

but you can sustain yourself
with thanks

for any little blessing,
even while stumbling in the dark.
