Budding Lotus Body I am a Certified Hanna Somatic Educator offering 1-on-1 sessions and group classes in Santa Fe, NM and globally online.

It is my desire to support others to reach their goals, whether it is increased mobility, less pain, feeling embodied or relaxation. I offer Hanna Somatic Education classes and private sessions online and in-person in Santa Fe, NM. This practice is designed to work with chronic tension and pain in the body and help ease limitations, pain and lack of coordination. I trained at the Novato Institute for Somatic Research & Training.

Join me this Wednesday (January 7th) for a Hanna Somatics class series to help you unlearn tension patterns that are limiting your movement and comfort and to learn new ways of movement freedom and ease.

Each week we will explore new areas of the body and will offer new movement techniques to release habitual tension and find new ways to move with greater ease. You are invited to join for the full 8 weeks or drop in for classes if you can't make the full series.

What a year it has been! I am grateful to be able to share Hanna Somatic Education and Pain Reprocessing Therapy with students and clients near and far.

I have been teaching a weekly, in-person class at Quail Run fitness center in Santa Fe since September and I am so grateful for the fabulous group of students who are returning each week. They are seeing the cumulative benefits of this practice and are committed to returning each week to continue feeling good, moving well, and enjoying the community they have created.

In Hanna Somatics we use differentiation as a technique. Through slow, gentle, mindful movement, we begin to differentiate how each part of us moves, where there is already ease, and where there is potential for change.

Once we can differentiate our shoulder, from our rib cage, or our hip from our ankle in a movement, we can begin to refine our movement quality. This in turn helps us coordinate our movements better as a whole.

Our whole system is always moving together; differentiation can help us highlight where there are kinks, catches, and/or limitations. Once we become aware of these areas we are able to create change.

Our habitual tension patterns may give us the sense of a divided self if we only sense pain and therefore assume it is purely physical, or we only sense sadness and believe it is only an emotional experience.

While our physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual experiences might have different intensities, or we might be more attuned to one over the others, we are a whole, connected, living experience of it all.

Because these experiences are all interwoven, as we bring ease to one, the others can ease too. When we release physical tension, we may feel emotions move, ease, or dissipate. When we become more mindful, our muscles may soften.

This is what I love about Hanna Somatics. It embraces the entirety of our living experience and works with our wholeness to shift our unconscious habits.

Join me January 7th for my next series: From Habits to Wholeness ✨

In this series you will experience slow, gentle movement techniques to unlearn your habitual tension patterns and gain greater ease, coordination, and movement freedom. We will journey through your muscles, joints, and fascia, each class offering a new area of physical focus and relationship to your whole soma. As you release old patterns and cultivate new ones, you may notice decreased pain, increased mobility, improved balance, deeper rest, and enhanced performance in daily and recreational activities.

Drop-ins are welcome for students who cannot make the whole series. Classes are verbally guided and will be taught in reclined positions on the floor. Recorded replay with one week unlimited access will be sent to all students.

Want to free up your psoas and hip flexors?

Try out these slow, gentle movements. Move slowly and within your comfortable range and avoid creating pain. Small ranges to start can get you to greater ranges of ease as you practice these over time.

Explore 3-5 of each movement and if they feel good, try them out daily for a week.
