Cancer Foundation for New Mexico

Cancer Foundation for New Mexico To help the people of northern New Mexico navigate their cancer journey with hope, dignity, and needed support.

The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico (CFFNM) is a local, independent non-profit organization formed in 2003 whose mission is to help save lives by providing the needed support to enable every northern New Mexican with cancer to access treatment in Santa Fe. We assist by underwriting travel, housing and meal expenses associated with prescribed treatment. Additionally, we address the need for emotional support by providing free weekly cancer support groups for patients, their families and caregivers. We supply trained volunteer support during treatment, and also offer Spanish speaking interpreters during diagnostic procedures.

💙 Subaru Loves to Care 💙
Thanks to the generosity of Subaru of Santa Fe, cancer patients in Santa Fe received a warm reminder that they are not alone. As part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, cozy blankets and messages of hope were delivered to the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Cancer Center and the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico.

A heartfelt thank you to Jason Bass, Owner, and Doug Schellstede, General Sales Manager of Subaru of Santa Fe, for personally delivering these gifts. We also extend our appreciation to Genevieve Tarnow, Executive Director, Oncology Services and Karen Gano, Oncology Social Worker from CHRISTUS, along with Caroline Owen, onsite Patient Services Coordinator at the Cancer Foundation, and Sonja Thorpe Bohannon and Libby Boyle for joining us to spread warmth and encouragement.

At the Cancer Foundation, our clinically trained volunteers and licensed social workers provide compassionate, in-person support to patients during treatment at CHRISTUS. These blankets are a small gesture with a big impact, offering love and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Together, we bring hope, one blanket at a time.

The Cancer Foundation for New Mexico (CFFNM) is a local, independent non-profit organization formed in 2003 whose mission is to help save lives by providing the needed support to enable every northern New Mexican with cancer to access treatment in Santa Fe. We provide a full range of support services, including mileage reimbursement, hotel lodging, and grocery gift cards to cancer patients receiving treatment in Santa Fe. To date, no qualified patient has ever been turned away. We provide other critical services to all cancer patients, regardless of financial need, including weekly professionally-led support groups for cancer patients, caregivers, and families; trained volunteers who provide support during treatment; Spanish-speaking volunteers to interpret; and information on available community resources.
