The Sky Center The Sky Center of the New Mexico Suicide Intervention Project: Free Family Counseling, Trainings, and Groups in the Santa Fe Public Schools

Our mission is to meet the challenge of youth suicide in Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico through lasting solutions that encourage resiliency, courage, connection and hope.

In 2021, John Barela saw a growing need to bring our community together around su***de awareness and prevention. He started what’s now an annual tradition, the Su***de Awareness and Prevention workout.

This year, on September 28, 2025, Donald Sanchez carried that vision forward, leading the event with strength and compassion. Together, participants reminded one another that no one in our community is ever alone. 💙

We’re deeply grateful for community members like John and Donald, whose dedication helps us continue our mission to reduce the risk of youth su***de.
