So much complicated and negative energy going on. I had a request for how-to clear personal space today, so thought it a good time to share here. Here's a reminder about clearing your self and your space with herbs, like sage. So much gratitude to my teachers.

I recommend using a sage wand, but in a pinch I can use the loose pieces of it just as well as in photo.

Clearing Your Energy Field and Your Space with Sage

I have been using this evolving process for nearly 40 years. I am not indigenous, nor a member of any tribe. This works for me. You will find your own ways to improve or adapt it to your beliefs and desires.

To clear/smudge self or others with sage in preparation for clearing your space:

Begin with smudging self or another to open your heart and vision to see or be aware of what needs clearing in your space.

Address the Highest Source/Creator. For me, that is the Great Mother in All Things. Call in your spiritual helpers, guides, loving ancestors. Ask for their help to open your heart and mind and aid you in the clearing process.

With fireproof dish/abalone shell to catch ashes, light the smudge stick. To smudge yourself or another, start at the top of head in front and work down with special attention to washing the heart. When the front is complete, go to the back again, then, from the top of the head down the spine to lifting and smudging the soles of the feet.

To clear/smudge home or office space:

Open windows to air out smoke, if you are sensitive to smoke. If you are not sensitive to it, you can keep the windows closed and allow the smoke to sit in the room for 5-15 minutes, or as long as you like. Then air out the room or space.

Address the Highest Source/Creator. For me that is the Great Mother in All Things or Great Creator. Call in your spiritual helpers, guides, loving ancestors.

With dish/abalone shell to catch ashes, light the smudge stick with a candle. Start at the front door and work clockwise through rooms and finish at front door. In each room draw a line with smudge at ceiling/wall, wall/floor, and circle all doors and windows. Smudge all furniture, then go to the next room. Clear both sides of front and back doors, finishing with the front where you started. Use the smudge to point and add mental focus where you are clearing to amplify effect of smoke.

Make a gratitude prayer at the end to the Sage and all who assisted. Think/meditate on bringing in light, surrounding house/property in a secure ball of light of your intuitive choosing. Seal around it with a soft white light.

If you have sweetgrass, burn that a bit in each room to bring in sweetness.

This feels so good!

Somuch truth here!

Leonard Cohen said his teacher once told him that the older you get the lonelier you become, and the deeper the love you need. This is because, as we go through life, we tend to over-identify with being the hero of our stories.

This hero isn’t exactly having fun: he’s getting kicked around, humiliated, and disgraced. But if we can let go of identifying with him, we can find our rightful place in the universe, and a love more satisfying than any we’ve ever known.

People constantly throw around the term 'Hero’s Journey' without having any idea what it really means. Everyone from CEOs to wellness-influencers thinks the Hero’s Journey means facing your fears, slaying a dragon, and gaining 25k followers on Instagram. But that’s not the real hero’s journey.

In the real hero’s journey, the dragon slays YOU. Much to your surprise, you couldn’t make that marriage work. Much to your surprise, you turned forty with no kids, no house, and no prospects. Much to your surprise, the world didn’t want the gifts you proudly offered it.

If you are foolish, this is where you will abort the journey and start another, and another, abusing your heart over and over for the brief illusion of winning.

But if you are wise, you will let yourself be shattered, and return to the village, humbled, but with a newfound sense that you don’t have to identify with the part of you that needs to win, needs to be recognized, needs to know. This is where your transcendent life begins.

So embrace humility in everything. Life isn’t out to get you, nor are your struggles your fault.

Every defeat is just an angel, tugging at your sleeve, telling you that you don’t have to keep banging your head against the wall.
Leave that striver there, trapped in his lonely ambitions. Just walk away, and life in its vastness will embrace you.

It is not raining. They are trying to create shade. Moslem pilgrims are dying as they attempt to make sacred pilgrimage. I felt loss and grief at this story. Can we hold our brothers and sisters in Solstice light, love and safety?

Just finished our first wild collection of 2024, Artemisia tridentata, Big Sage, altamisa. Not related to culinary sage, just smells like sage. A fabulous antifungal, antibacterial for gram positive and negative bacteria. Used in a tea as an anti-parasitical for intestinal worms. Removes unwanted digestive blockages, hence known to remove "empacho". We use it in herbal soak blends for an aromatic stimulant. The key word here is "purifier". Purifies the body and soul for renewal. We also do a blend of big sage in foot baths for relaxation and restoration of the tired psychic mind. After our next harvest I plan on doing a distillation for hydrosol and essential oil in the big still. Super abundant in the wild west over millions of acres.
