A very cool new project I'm working on!

We believe that there is no more intimate relationship than that which develops between a trusted midwife and the women she serves while delivering excellent midwifery services. Midwifery in the home is an especially powerful opportunity for making Christ known, as it provides an avenue for entire f...

New research reveals about 15 per cent of young, healthy mothers in NSW are being put into induced labours without any medical reason and there are long-term impacts for mothers and babies.

Guess what? Intermittent fetal monitoring during labor reduces incidence of “emergency” c-sections and does not increase incidence of other morbidities or mortalities. Midwives know and the science agrees.
(And I’m not sure why the article has this pic!)

BACKGROUND: Cesarean delivery is the most common surgical procedure worldwide. Intrapartum fetal surveillance is routinely offered to improve neonatal outcomes, but the effects of different methods on the risk of emergency cesarean deliveries remains uncertain. We conducted a systematic review and n...

If you (or someone you know) live in the Santa Fe / Los Alamos / surrounding area and are pregnant and considering out-of-hospital birth, consider visiting me at the Santa Fe Birth Center! 🙂
Santa Fe Birth Center

So often Jesus’ birth is depicted as a meek moment. I love this pic and the power that it captures (and the stunned detached look on Joseph’s face 😂). He came in blood and water, the same as you and me. He walked this earth and was literally the BEST example of how to be human. Merry Christmas!

The birth of Jesus brings such magical awe and wonder. Was Mary in active labor on the way to Bethlehem? Did her water break on the donkey? Did midwives attend her birth (I would like to think so!)? Did she have any complications during the birth? Was Joseph actually present when Jesus was born? What did she do with her placenta? The faith Mary had to conceive u***d, and to birth in a place without her family, is a faith that amazes me. I pray that I can have just an ounce of faith that Mary had to birth the Lord our Savior. Today I am so grateful. So thankful for the faith of Mary and Joseph, so thankful for the safe birth of Jesus, and thankful for the hope and promise that Jesus brought to us with His birth. Merry Christmas to all our precious families!
