We love our dog friends at Vista Living Care!

There’s something special that happens when a furry visitor walks through the door. Tails wag, smiles appear, and our homes instantly feel even more joyful. Our residents light up when they spend time with these sweet companions.

Did you know that spending time with animals can be especially beneficial for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia? Studies have shown that animal interaction can help reduce anxiety, lower stress, and even encourage more communication and social connection.

From gentle pets to happy cuddles, our four-legged friends bring comfort, calm, and lots of love to our homes. Thank you to all the wonderful pups (and their humans!) who brighten our days. 🐶✨

When generations connect, something special happens. Children bring laughter and curiosity that can spark joy for those living with dementia, while elders share warmth and presence in return.

These simple moments together can mean everything ♥️

It’s the little things that mean the most. 🐥💛

Connection is powerful at every stage of life — and for our elders, moments of laughter, conversation, and simple shared joy can brighten an entire day. Socializing supports emotional well-being, reduces feelings of isolation, and keeps spirits lifted in ways that truly matter.

Because meaningful connection isn’t complicated — it’s intentional. 💛

At The Arbors, music is more than entertainment — it’s connection.

For individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, music activates parts of the brain that often remain accessible even as other areas decline. Research shows that familiar songs can:

• Spark long-term memories
• Improve mood and reduce anxiety
• Encourage social interaction
• Decrease agitation
• Strengthen emotional connection

Even when words become difficult, rhythm and melody can still reach the heart.

You may notice a resident who hasn’t spoken much suddenly humming along… tapping their foot… or smiling at a lyric they recognize. That’s the power of music therapy.

Moments like these remind us that joy is still there — and connection is always possible. 💛

At The Arbors, we create experiences that nurture the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.

Fresh air can do more than you think. ☀️🌼

Here are 5 powerful reasons outdoor time matters for elders living with Alzheimer’s & dementia — and why we make it part of everyday life.

Research shows structured outdoor time delivers measurable benefits for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. That’s why we prioritize it daily:
1. Natural light supports circadian rhythm – Helping regulate sleep cycles and reduce sundowning behaviors.
2. Green space reduces agitation – Associated with lower stress levels and fewer behavioral symptoms.
3. Gentle sensory input encourages engagement – Nature stimulates attention and orientation without overstimulation.
4. Light movement supports physical health – Improving mobility, balance, and overall function.
5. Outdoor access boosts mood – Linked to stronger emotional well-being and quality of life.

Outdoor time isn’t just an activity — it’s an evidence-informed component of whole-person dementia care. 🌿
