Feeling very honored and blessed to officially launch the Reiki Volunteer Program at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM with these four beautiful students and volunteers of mine! It’s taken over a year of dedicated planning, and last week our Reiki volunteers worked with their first patients.

This program provides free Reiki healing services to CHRISTUS patients in the Cancer & Supportive Care Program, eventually extending to all palliative care patients. I’m also maintaining a wait list of volunteers who would like to contribute and once we get the pilot program working well, we’ll be extending the positions to additional volunteers.

We’re so grateful to the wonderful staff at CHRISTUS, and I’m so grateful to these amazing volunteers, for putting in the work to make this happen!

Of all the photos the incredibly talented Julie Hamlin took of me recently, this one is probably my favorite because it’s exactly what practicing Reiki and energy work feels like to me.

I dearly love to laugh, and in recent years, that emotion has been a bit more elusive than it once was - yet, when I’m practicing energy work, it’s so effortlessly close to the surface, which is one of my favorite things about facilitating and teaching this work.

Many years ago a student told me that his biggest takeaway from my Reiki 2 class was the reminder to smile. At first, I felt like I’d failed him if all he received was such a simple piece of information. Yet over the years, my practice has simplified as I’ve refined it, and I now see the great and deep wisdom in this small but mighty reminder to invite joy into our bodies through something that’s accessible to us all: a smile.

One of my great teachers, the late Teresa Hall, always said that “amusement is one of the highest vibrations” and I often supplement that with “joy.” So many of you have shared your joy with me over the years, and I’m so grateful to have been on this bright, complex path with you all. We’ve also shared in much sorrow, grief and pain, which creates a contrast that makes the joy that much sweeter and more palpable.

Thank you for being on this path with me - it’s my honor and joy to be here with you all.

Gratitude softens
the hard edges of life.
Whether fleeting, faint,
eternal or effortless,
gratitude in any form,
is the way love blesses.

I feel like “maybe” has gotten a bad wrap in our certainty culture. And I get it - if it’s not accompanied by communication and accountability, “maybe” can get old really fast.

But only allowing for the limited scope of “yes” or “no” as valid answers, takes away an entire range of processing and self awareness. It also often leads to a lot more stress and frustration for everyone involved. I’d so much rather a “Hell Maybe!” that’s followed up with communication and follow through.

And when we can hold “maybe” for the people in our lives that we care about, WITH accountability, it’s allows us to discuss boundaries, needs and expectations for all involved. This can lead to beautifully deep and intimate conversations which also allow us to get to know and understand each other (and ourselves!) so much better.

I also should say I think it’s totally valid to interpret a “maybe” as a lack of interest - again, “maybe” is a great opportunity to follow up for better clarity and understanding. And we always have the ability to choose for ourselves what level of tolerance we have for “maybe,” depending on the person and situation.

Who else in my world is a “Hell Maybe!” kind of person? I imagine they are my empaths and highly sensitive folks. So let’s go, we ride at dawn…maybe! 😅

We live in a society that is hyper-focused on certainty, and so, when we become confused, we internalize it as a negative. We might feel as though we’ve done something wrong, ie if we can only get to that place of outcome and certainty, we’ll be okay.

But confusion usually means we’re in a place of growth and transformation. Confusion is a sign of cognitive dissonance: when beliefs and ideas conflict with one another, as old parts of ourselves are colliding with new parts. It can also mean that areas that had been misaligned are trying to come into greater alignment; we are sorting out what we really believe, what our core values are, and what direction we want to take our lives.

I often have to remind myself to celebrate my confusion because it can be such an uncomfortable emotion! But when I reframe it as a symptom of growth, I relax into it more, I don’t try to rush the outcome, and I trust that I’ll eventually sort through the chaos and move into a new and higher vibration.

We are all the light we can take in.
Rainbows brushing our skin with prayers.
Sacred afternoons clad in yellow and burgeoning monsoons.
Hope whispered into a luminous sky of light rays across clouds.

Transformation lives in brave, open hearts.
Brightness dances our shadow toward love.
Stillness finds the culmination of sunset,
as we wrap ourselves in every golden ray.

I wayfind under both moon and sun.
This afternoon I am grateful for so much contrast:

Tears that transform into wet laughter.
An aching darkness that reveals the incandescence of tenderness.

Welcome light. Welcome spirit. Welcome night.
I am whole.

Sometimes it’s hard to take the love in. I’ve been in “failure fallacy” the last several weeks. You know, those moments you experience feeling like a failure, yet there’s no logical reason for such. And as I’ve reached out, rather than getting back the same sense of failure, I get people who are so loving and kind that I feel like I don’t deserve it.

It's a terrible trap - and I'm struggling to get through it. As a teacher and healer, we're supposed to have it all figured out, right? And then what do you do when you don't? When I had a fledgling business, it felt a lot easier to talk about these issues. People didn't necessarily see me as an authority, and I honored my humanness in a much better way. It became a talking point of closeness - and it absolutely should still be. Imposter syndrome is real in almost every profession. Yet when you enter into the healing arts, there's a sense of having "been through it" and also "figured it out," such that it becomes an end-game to feel like you can't struggle.

Most of this, I realize, is self-imposed. Yes we live in a culture of perfectionism; and also, we're only subject to that as much as we hold it in our conditioning. As a child and young adult, I learned to receive love through achievement. I'm sure that resonates with many. Yet how does one exist authentically in the healing arts while both holding a sense of "I have no idea what I'm doing most days" with "oh, here's the answer and I hope that helps"?

The older I get, the less sure I am of how to be in the world. This has come as a shocking surprise. I believe this rawness ultimately makes us better people and friends. I share this not because I'm looking for answers - social media holds an incredible amount of those. I share this more for others who, in their quest for personal development, find that there's more questions than solutions, and maybe just want a hand to hold in those moments. Thanks for holding my hand, you beautiful humans.

The New Moon is such a precious time, and living away from city lights now, I appreciate it even more. This time is also known as the dark of the moon, because the moon is barely, if at all, visible at night.

Tribal, shamanic and earth-based spiritual traditions recognize that this is a time of new beginnings, as the absence of light represents a clean slate from which to start anew. The New Moon represents new beginnings, and is a time to work with this darkness before the dawn to envision what could be possible. There is no light yet to shine upon it, so it is a time of dreaming, of working with the obsidian expanse to draw down possibilities.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Full Moon brings us completion and cultivation, with mother moon showing us her bright fullness. Full Moons are traditionally a time of release, allowing us to use the fullness of her silvery moon beams to bathe in for cleansing and healing.

If you’re interested in learning more about the New Moon, I offer monthly New Moon ceremonies online. For more information, the link is in my bio or Patreon.com/SharnaLanglais

Sometimes we have to travel far away from ourselves, to find a new pathway home. The further away we travel from the heart of who we’ve been, the closer we get to the parts of ourselves that we have banished and cast away. It’s been a long homecoming for me this time around, and it’s included getting in touch with parts of myself that I’d long suppressed.

I haven’t recognized myself for a long time, and there was a tremendous mourning process over the old version of myself. And once that grief for the old self began to pass, I could see the opportunities for rebirth, and I now relish in my newness.

I’m also seeing the benefit of losing hope, as long as we don’t get stuck there. The temporary loss of hope forces an incredible purge, and a deep reconnection to strength and passion, that can only come when we put every single possible card on the table - and are ready to eradicate them all.

I still don’t recognize myself, or at times my life, but I now relish in the new discoveries that I make about myself every day. Just when I thought my 40s would bring a more solidified sense of self, I realize it is bringing more adventure, exploration and discovery, as I face every untamed part of myself; rather than simply highlighting what suits me best, or has kept me safe.

I’m writing again, creating again, expanding again. And there is nothing else fueling this rather than a renewed sense of passion for life itself. Just when I thought I was perhaps settling into the status quo, the universe reminded me that I’m not done yet.

Thank you all for being on this journey with me, and for supporting all the new work that has been moving through me. Sending you all so much love and brightest blessings, always. ❤️

The experience of being “too much” is a collective wound we’re just now beginning to unpack. For various reasons, many of us were told to “be quiet,” “be small,” “don’t take up too much space.” And if we also were highly sensitive, we internalized these emotions and “bigness” as being a deficit. Shame attached itself to feeling deeply, and we learned to shove it all down, while simultaneously being confused about how else to exist in the world.

It makes me so incredibly happy that we are living in a time in which we are beginning to have deep and honest conversations about authenticity. A time in which the shadow is invited to whole-heartedly have a place at the table, and we don’t automatically judge the experiences that make us uncomfortable. When tears leak out, or laughter bubbles over, I’m watching as more and more people shine from the glory of allowing truth to shimmer outward in unabashed waves.

We’re also learning to discern who gets the fullness of our being, in addition to when and how. This is a nuance that we learn as we accept the entirety of ourselves, and it’s also key to standing in empowered authenticity. And as we become more authentic and discerning, our boundaries immediately become stronger. We know who we are, our energy reflects our standards, and the expansiveness we gain from not hiding or pretending emits a vibration that backs the force of our intentions. Boundaries are immediately set and perceived because we are clear about who we are, and what we deserve.

If these ideas interest you, and you’d like to explore more about boundaries and energy, you can join me on Patreon. I’ve recently recorded a one-hour workshop on the Energetics of Boundaries.
