Somatic Practice Group for Parents/Caregivers Organizing for Palestine

Parents and caregivers organizing for a free Palestine: our hearts struggle to span the distance between holding children close and witnessing an ongoing genocide. We will use embodied practice and space for connection in community to ground in purpose as anti-Zionist parent/caregiver organizers, and be in the contradictions of parenting during a genocide.

IDHA’s Transformative Mental Health Core Curriculum is a groundbreaking virtual training for anyone interested in gaining tangible skills to transform mental health practice and shift broader systems of care. I’m so proud to be a faculty member, among 50 incredible experts-by-experience and experts-by-training from around the world.
Centering lived experience and a systemic, historical analysis, this is a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge spanning dozens of disciplines, social movements, geographies, and perspectives. It includes 22+ hours of video content, and is available for 20.75 CE credits.
Between now and August 30, you can enroll in the curriculum’s Learning Experience format, which is only offered twice each year. This format provides the opportunity to move through the otherwise self-guided curriculum with a group. It includes 12 additional hours of live facilitated discussion space – great for those who prefer to learn in community and with a set timeline. These cohorts will run for 4 months, from September-December 2024.
A very limited number of seats are available, so I definitely recommend securing your spot early if you are interested. For more information, visit www.idha-nyc.org/core-curriculum, or email core-curriculum@idha-nyc.org.

Putting together slides for a presentation I'm doing at Stanford next week on q***r & trans mental health. Thought I would share these core principles. Curious how they'll go over - there are going to be a lot of psychiatrists in the (zoom) room.

We’re back! Trans Somatics, a 5 week practice group on embodying gender expansion, launches at 9am PST/12pm EST on Thursdays from 6/20-7/25, skipping July 4th. Join a group where you can meet other trans & enby folks who are working on becoming more embodied and building their capacities to handle stress and find connection. We will learn a variety of somatic practices derived from generative somatics and the resilience toolkit that can support us in caring for ourselves and strengthening our self-responsiveness. We’ll build skills in setting boundaries, navigating triggers, living inside changing trans bodies, and making hard decisions. Sessions will include time for discussion and connection with fellow participants, as well as some journaling prompts. We’ll ground our explorations inside the challenging social, racial, and political contexts we are all inhabiting. All levels of experience with somatics are welcome.

Hey beautiful people, I'm going to be offering this continuing ed training on zoom through S*x Therapy New Mexico on Boundaries, Feeling, and Consent and I would love if you could attend and spread the word!!! June 2nd 12-2pm MST. Register at link in comments.

In this trauma-sensitive space, we will gather to explore ways to help our clients respect and care for themselves, including developing their ability to feel and learning to express consent, make requests, and set boundaries. Jacks McNamara will lead us in a combination of somatic exercises, journaling, and group discussion.

We will examine what it means to return home to our bodies and create safety and connection. Participants will leave with a sense of possible paths forward, and concrete tools they can use. Special attention will be paid to q***r and trans clients and relationships.

This training will be recorded. Asynchronous CE credit available.

We did it! Our podcast is live! https://www.somanywings.org/listen/ So Many Wings is a podcast that draws on our backgrounds in transformative mental health and social justice organizing to gather our people and share stories and visions as we struggle for collective liberation. We’re up on all the major outlets, like Apple, Google, Spotify, etc. Our first episode is an interview with the amazing organization Q***r Nature, some gender-variant mystics who are "dreaming into decolonially-informed q***r ‘ancestral futurism’ through mentorship in place-based skills with awareness of post-industrial/globalized/ecocidal contexts." They are incredible thinkers, and so inspiring. Please listen, share, and subscribe if you're interested!

Hey folks Sascha Altman DuBrul and I are launching a new podcast in the next couple weeks, and it would be awesome if you follow us and share it with friends! About the project: So Many Wings, a flock of misfits and changemakers, is a podcast that draws on our backgrounds in transformative mental health and social justice organizing to gather our people and share stories and visions as we struggle for collective liberation. This project is a node in the growing network of creatively maladjusted folks who are rising up and capturing the imaginations of people who are ready for change. We chose the name So Many Wings because there are so many ways to get free, and because we can only get free together, as a flock of misfits and changemakers moving through the world. We hope you’ll join us.
