Equest Counseling Center Equest is a progressive,culturally sensitive and aware counseling center,providing mental health services to the richly diverse communities of Northern NM.

Equest Counseling Center is in a peaceful rural setting providing a place of refuge for our clients. We value our creative approaches to facilitate growth and healing in children (birth-13), youth, adults, individuals, families, groups, and corporate teams. We focus on assisting our clients with healing in mind, body and spirit, to further assist them in living as responsible and productive member

s of society with vision and hope. Additionally we offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) at our lovely facility. EAP is an experiential/interactive therapy integrating the horse with a licensed/credentialed mental health professional and a horse specialist for the purpose of working with the client for the purpose of facilitating the healing process. EAP is an effective treatment and intervention to address a wide variety of mental health problems through varied activities and exercises the horse in the arena becomes a metaphor for the clientís behaviors and relationships. One of the most important benefits of EAP is that it breaks down defense barriers that are often created when a client enters a counseling session. Excellent for substance abuse, domestic violence and communication problems.
