I got this new tool for detecting EKG’s, yes, EKG’s.

It is the KardiaMobile by AlivCor, and it is a Single Lead EKG detection device that is the size of a credit card and it is FDA- Approved. Best of all, I can carry it in my wallet.

With the basic FREE Membership it can detect 3 heart rhythms;
* AFib
* Bradycardia
* Tachycardia
**Normal Sinus Rhythm (included).

With the KardiaCare Advanced membership, it can detect the above heart rythmns, plus 3 additional heart rythmns, such as
* Sinus Rhythm with
Premature Ventricular
Contractions (PVCs)
* Sinus Rhythm with
Supraventricular Ectopy
(SVE)
* Sinus Rhythm with Wide
QRS

Below you can see my EKG that i took on myself. It shows a normal sinus rythmn and my pulse rate of 66

As they say in the movie business, “that’s a wrap”!!! Yesterday, Sunday, July 13th, we completed our 5 days of medical support for the 2025’Santa Barbara County Fair at the Santa Maria Fairpark.

It was another successful year for us and we were happy to be there to provide our EMS for the fair patrons and staff.

We now have 2 Fairs and 1 Strawbery Festival under our belts.

For about 30 years, I wanted to take what was then known as “Basic Trauma Life Support” (BTLS) which has since morphed into “PreHospital Trauma Life Support” (PHTLS).

In July of 2023, I finally took the PHTLS Provider Course through Bakersfield College. The next step was to become a PHTLS Instructor, so I applied to be an PHTLS Instructor Candidate (IC). Apparently, you have to monitored as an IC within 18 months of completing the PHTLS Provider Course, if you’re not monitored within 18 months, your initial PHTLS Provider card (even though it is good for 4 years) expires and you have to start the process all over again.

Thanks to the magic of Tim Hallmark, the PHTLS Course Coordinator at Cuesta College, he was able to put to together a PHTLS Refresher Course for myself and one of IC that was in the situation, submit the paperwork so we could get our IC Letters, this allowed us to attend the upcoming PHTLS offered through the Cuesta College Paramedic Academy.

Today, I got my PHTLS Instructor card!!!

NEW CONTRACT:

Last Monday, June 9th, Avila Beach Golf Resort reached out to us about us providing our EMS for their concerts and events.

After sending the requested information, we quickly received an email reply that they would like to move ahead with our services.

We are super excited for this opportunity and can’t wait for our first event, which will be at the end of July.

OUR PAST WEEK IN REVIEW:

This past week was another busy week for the business.

First, we provided EMTs from Tuesday, June 10th through Sunday, June 15th for the Maria Gracida Invitational Polo Tournament that was held in both Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez, at La Herradura Polo. .

Next, we provided EMTs for the 3 night races at Santa Maria Speedway.

Today we are providing our EMS for the Santa Maria Valley Open Spaces “TRAILPALOOZA”Trail Run and Mountain Bike event.

The Trail Run is either a 5, 10, or 15 mile run ( 5 mile loop).

This is our first year providing our EMS for this event.
