46 year-old female presented after recent motor vehicle accident with severe back pain, found to have a severe compression fracture, kyphosis/angulation, and cord compression.

They underwent a decompression and fusion with an expandable cage to fix their alignment, and were up walking later that same day! This was a great collaborative case with Dr. Eromo to allow for a faster, safer surgery!

Am I too old for surgery?

This 92 year old former Miami football player was experiencing progressive severe back and leg pain, with worsening numbness and weakness. He soon found himself unable to walk and lost his independence.

We discussed the risks and benefits of surgery, and decided on a 45-minute minimally invasive procedure to decompress his nerves.

He awoke with resolution of his leg pain and began walking again the same day. Now 1 month post-op, he is doing fantastic!

While not everyone is a good candidate for surgery, I have in-depth conversations with each of my patients to custom-tailor a patient-specific treatment plan that optimizes their chances of success.

I operated on this kind gentlemen to help him walk again, now pain-free. After chatting with him during his post-op visit, I discovered he was a Running Back for the California Golden Bears during our last 1959 RoseBowl appearance!

It was no doubt a sign that THIS is our year for a return appearance, GO BEARS!
