Dr. Tiffany Grunwald is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Dr. Grunwald has been helping patients achieve their desired aesthetic since opening her Santa Monica private practice in 2007. Regarded worldwide as a specialist in both cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, Dr. Grunwald has worked extensively with breast cancer survivors to restore their natural breast shape following mastectomy.
After college, Dr. Grunwald had the unique opportunity to travel as part of a surgical team to Central and South America to perform pediatric open heart surgery. There, she realized the profound difference that a surgical intervention can make, and decided to become a surgeon.
She was drawn to plastic surgery because of the close relationship that develops between doctor and patient, and he role in analyzing and solving problems that directly impact individuals. That approach continues to guide her work as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. By taking the time to get to know each of her patients, Dr. Grunwald determines their aesthetic goals, and tailors a solution specifically to their needs, opting for a nonsurgical approach whenever possible. No two patients are alike, so no two patients should receive the same breast or face.
Dr. Grunwald earned her bachelors degree in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, before attending the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine, where she was awarded top recognition for her clinical skills among her entire class. After earning her M.D., Dr. Grunwald completed competitive residencies in general surgery, plastic surgery and reconstructive surgery at the Keck School of Medicine. While working as a clinical instructor at the school, she earned her Master of Education from USC’s Rossier School of Education. Dr. Grunwald received extensive training in facial rejuvenation through Dr. Gareth Wootton, of her mentors and a leader in this technique. She currently teaches Fellows in Plastic Surgery at USC School of Medicine and Fellows in Breast Surgery at the John Wayne Cancer Institute.
Dr. Grunwald opened her private practice in 2007. She and her small staff remain dedicated to deeply personalized care for her plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery and facial rejuvenation patients. They pride themselves in developing long-term relationships with their patients, acting as a resource even after an individual’s recovery is complete. Dr. Grunwald is also the Division Chief of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Providence Saint John’s Health Center.
