"That Boat Ride Hurt My Butt!”

A patient referred her cousin who hurt herself while riding in a boat. When the cousin came in, she explained that she was in a boat with her husband and a few friends riding in the harbor. Her husband, who was driving, decided to go out of the harbor and into the rougher ocean. As they were out there, the waves started getting really big and all of a sudden she was “airborne” and then landed on her butt in the hard plastic seats over and over again.

When they docked the boat, she was in severe pain. The X-ray showed there were no broken bones. When she came in, she was in a lot of pain and was bent over, but there were no bruises. I had her lie down on the table and gently began feeling her lower back and glute attachments to the sacrum. Feeling the tightness of the muscles and tendons, I used anma techniques to treat them. There were several points to apply pressure to, so I also used shiatsu to release them.

I worked on the Sekisaisen in lower back, UB 23-30, UB 48 and 49, GB 30.
When she got off the table, she felt so much better and was standing up straight. I treated her two more times, and she was pain free. Though she had to drive close to 40 miles to get to the office, she said it was well worth it.

Shiatsu-Anma correcting does not have as its purpose the snapping or popping of joints. The effectiveness of its slow and gentle techniques depends on the considered timing and soothing rhythm that practitioners will develop with experience.

Both the exercise and correcting techniques in our Shiatsu-Anma therapy improve R.O.M. (range of motion). When there is an energy blockage, a corresponding accumulation of toxicity, stiffness and even bone deformation may result. Aging, poor diet, lack of exercise, excessive imbalanced exercise or repetitive movement may all contribute to a condition of ill health.

Correcting the skeletal system and aligning the spine, pelvis and thorax will help to keep the proper energy pathways clear and secure. In Western terms, it also stretches out ligaments, tendons and the articular or joint capsule surrounding tissues of the joints, which keep the limbs and joints flexible and pliant. Application of the correcting technique frees pinched nerves and improves blood circulation. This works to enhance the function of internal organs. It also helps ensure correct spinal and skeletal alignment, a prerequisite for healthy functioning of the body.

How to apply: The correcting technique is applied by pressing or pulling on the joints, spine, pelvis, neck and/or scapula, to release rigidity from these areas. While applying pressure to the area being treated, the practitioner’s hands are often pulled or
stretched in two opposite directions.

I call the abdomen the invisible heart. It’s also considered the second brain. It is highly recommended to give soothing massage clockwise 108 times a day, twice a day. This has multiple benefits for example, to regulate the Gastrointestinal system, empowering your immune system, and inducing natural tranquilizers. This modality can also help combat the current viruses.

Through abdominal practice you're able to regulate each major organ’s activities. As you succeed in enhancing and cleansing the various systems, you’ll have a great chance to have winning health!

Practice this upon awakening and going to sleep in bed. First start with a soothing clockwise rotation starting with your 2 hands around the navel, then above the navel, under the ribs and above the p***c bone, up to 108 times.

End with pressing 4 points around the navel, starting with 3-4 fingers below the navel (CV 6, 5, 4), above the navel (CV 12) and the left and right of the navel (stomach 25) as you deeply exhale. For the pressure you can use your fingers or fist. Please do it carefully. Apply the pressure sequence 3 times. You will see great results as you continue this disciplinary modality as much as possible throughout the week, for at least 3 months.

"Whiplash Relief"

A new person came in with neck pain following a car accident. Being hit from behind by another drive, she explained how her head moved and pain she was having. She was having pain in her lateral and posterior neck, headaches, and numbness in her arm.

Feeling her neck, occiput and shoulders, there was much tightness in the muscles and tendons and blockages in the meridians. I worked on the Sekisaisen line in the neck, and the following points: UB10, GB20, SI17, SI16, LI18, LI17, GB21.

I also applied Anma cross-fiber to the lateral neck (scalenes) then rotation to the Sekisaisen and UB line (erector spinae). After a few treatments, all her problems resolved, and she was back to her normal self.

We are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the LA Fires. Our hearts go out to everyone who has lost their homes during this tragic time.

As some of you may know, Dr. Kaneko lost his home in the fire that devastated the Pacific Palisades. He lost virtually everything he owned as well as his treatment and classroom spaces. Alan Saruwatari, his business partner, kindly set up a GoFundMe page to help Dr. Kaneko rebuild after the fires. If you're interested in helping, you can visit the link below.

Our in-person and online classes are temporarily on hold as we take time to regroup. Thank you for your understanding and support. 💗🙏
