Steven Teitelbaum, MD

Steven Teitelbaum, MD Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is recognized as one of the best Los Angeles plastic surgeons due to his rigorous training & excellent patient satisfaction ratings.

Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is an active member of many professional societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and the California Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Teitelbaum says, "I only do what a patient asks, but I will not do whatever a patient

asks. I will only do what I think is safe and aesthetically desirable; if a patient and I do not agree then we will respectfully part ways before surgery. When patients ask for something that will look overdone or that would not be beautiful, I will explain my opinion." Aesthetics contains subjectivity, and even top plastic surgeons have differing views on what is best for a patient. Dr. Teitelbaum wants patients to be sure that they are comfortable and understand what would be their best achievable result. Unlike emergency room medicine, plastic surgeons and their patients have the luxury of planning ahead, discussing, and answering many questions. Patients say that Dr. Teitelbaum is easy to talk to and that he can explain the most complicated medical issues in an easy to understand manner.

Breast lifts and reductions elevate and reshape breasts. From just a “jzuzz” to a massive weight reduction, these procedures repeatedly have been shown to create the greatest patient satisfaction in plastic surgery. The reduction makes the breasts perkier and lighter, alleviating pain, allowing patients to wear a greater variety of clothing, facilitating working-out, and making them look feel more beautiful and self-confident. Many of these patients are teenagers whose breasts are so big that they inhibit their athletics, cause discomfort, and attract unwanted attention. Another peak of reduction occurs after menopause when breast size can increase even in very fit women. These are also my favorite procedures to perform because they require a full spectrum of physician skills: listening to patients to understand what they want, carefully assessing their anatomy, and performing a procedure that lets me use my full artistic and technical skills. Seeing the smiles from the happy patients is just the best feeling there is! See before and afters on my website drteitelbaum.com

Let’s be real. We need to stop using terms to promote things that sound cool but not all patients need.

Stitch went to sleep for the last time in my arms yesterday while we were in an examination room, waiting for the veterinarian. I am amazed at how he seemed to know what was coming and chose to move on to the next world on his own terms. It was peaceful and perfect.

Stitch simply loved being near his human brothers, but his favorite thing of all was snuggling with his mommy . There’s no doubt that the thing he appreciated most was me marrying Stephanie—nothing else I did for him could compare.

Stitch was always playful. He loved playing fetch, especially with my late father, always trying to catch the ball over his shoulder, à la Willie Mays. He would hopelessly chase squirrels and birds, scaring them away with his little bark long before he could ever pose a threat. He always managed to find the softest cashmere blanket to snuggle with—something that never made sense to me, considering he was already covered in his own soft fur!

Stitch was a beloved member of our family, and he will be deeply missed. We do not need condolences; perhaps a dog’s greatest gift is the ability to be loved so deeply while also allowing us to heal from their loss. Let’s all take a moment to remember our beloved pets and smile with gratitude.

I’m moderating a panel tonight at the Los Angeles Society of Plastic Surgery on breast augmentation. Along with the expert panelists Drs. John Diaz and Michael Schwartz, we will bring to Los Angeles what we have learned from our extensive lecturing across the United States and overseas. We will talk about something deceptively complicated: how to ascertain the very specific outcome an individual patient wants – and what subtleties need to be done to achieve that goal. We will discuss how to minimize pain, speed recovery, and reduce the likelihood of needing a revision. We will delve into technical details such as the newest implants, whether to go in front or behind the muscle, fat grafting, and other state-of-the-art surgical nuances. We will discuss how the common complication of capsular contracture can be nearly eliminated. John and Mike are brilliant and insightful, and along with the many expert breast surgeons in the audience we will have a lively discussion and learn from one another. I want to give a big shoutout to LASPS President Dr. Jay Calvert for scheduling this important event.

Newsflash: Many IG before - and - afters are complete BS. cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery expert, Jolene Edgar, discusses the epidemic of unscrupulous plastic surgeons posting deceptive or misleading before - and - after photos on Instagram. It will blow your mind.

The problem is not that of “photoshopped” or AI-generated images; it is that many surgeons are using deceitful photography techniques. If there is any good news, it is that those tricks are easy to identify. So when you see these deceptive photos, consider posting a reply with the hashtag .

This will be a helpful article for patients researching plastic surgery and should be required reading for plastic surgeon “influencers.”

I hope it will prompt each plastic surgery society to evaluate whether its Code of Ethics adequately punishes this practice, which misleads patients and denigrates our specialty.

There’s nothing for me to post that isn’t already thoroughly covered in the story (link in bio.) Give it a good read—this is so important.

If you successfully feed and water them for nine years this is what happens. Wow. I am blessed. I love this little fellow. Happy 9th birthday to Levi. Credit goes to for being such a terrific mother. The days are long…but the years are quick.

Because Southern California basks in the image of being the mecca of breast surgery, it struck me as odd that and I were the only local plastic surgeons on the faculty of the Atlanta Breast Symposium this weekend. Indeed, I didn’t notice any LA attendees (though the meeting is so large I might have missed someone.) This is the world’s only major plastic surgery meeting dedicated to breast surgery, and it is simply the place to go to hear about the latest trends and innovations. As a group we need to attend these meetings in greater numbers. We would bring home knowledge and would be inspired to innovate and teach, ultimately justifying the claim that once again we are at the apex of plastic surgery.

The program was outstanding. I was fortunate to be on panels with close friends and luminaries Lou Strock (Texas), Patrick Mallucci (UK), Caroline Glicksman (New Jersey), Dennis Hammond (Michigan), Franklyn Elliott (Georgia), James Namnoun (Georgia), Patrick Maxwell (Tennessee), Mark Clemens (Texas), Amy Alderman (Georgia) and Mindy Haws (Tennessee). We discussed incisions, pocket location, lymphoma, avoiding complications, implant removal, breast implant illness and much more. See you next year in Atlanta!

I wish everyone a sweet and healthy new year. (Table design by .)
