This one is a bit longer than usual, but since President Trump made shockwaves these days, I had to go into detail. So if your kid is on the spectrum or has other mental health challenges, please take your time to watch this.
Is Tylenol as benign as what we have been told? NO!
I think we give it way too often without thinking of the risk. Should pregnant moms be taking it? Not unless it is absolutely necessary. Right now, in hospitals and clinics, they hand it out to infants and children like it is water. This is not a great idea.
It is true - IN SUSCEPTIBLE CHILDREN, Tylenol can be converted to a dangerous metabolite which can be harmful to a developing brain. Several studies have demonstrated this very thing!
Autism rates are rising and kids are struggling with sensory issues, emotional regulation, chronic illness, while ALL WE DO IS keep looking for a single cause, a single answer. Today - Tylenol gets the spotlight, but the real issue is deeper.
Just think about it - has the usage of Tylenol changed in the last decade? NO! But the rates of autism have. WHY?
ENVIRONMENTAL TOXINS + COVID have created the most susceptible generation of children in modern history. Dr. Parker (one of the original researchers who raised the alarm on Tylenol and autism) says is that susceptibility comes from oxidative stress.
What creates oxidative stress? Inflammation. Gut issues. Mitochondrial errors.
Because of environmental toxicity - many children - some in infancy - have issues with all these systems from the get go. This is like having a dry forest filled with tinder. Tylenol becomes the match that starts the fire. We are focusing on the match - and missing the mountain of tinder that allowed the fire to explode.
Until we address the why behind this rising susceptibility, we’ll keep missing the point. This is a much harder conversation to have - but one that is necessary.
