❗ Critical Misunderstanding: 0% WPI Does NOT Mean "No Future Care"
One of the biggest misconceptions in workers' comp is that patients with 0% whole person impairment aren't entitled to future medical care. Our latest podcast explodes this myth!
Dr. John Alchemy shares a powerful example: • Patient had a major extensor knee tendon rupture and repair • Made a remarkable recovery with no pain or weakness • Properly rated at 0% WPI • BUT still qualified for future medical care
Why? Dr. Alchemy explains: "Future care is about 'do you have symptoms or are you in medical probability going to have symptoms in the future that are going to need treatment?'"
Even with a perfect recovery now, medical probability suggests potential issues years later as scar tissue degenerates or the kneecap tracking changes.
This distinction matters for everyone involved in workers' compensation - from physicians to claims managers to the injured workers themselves!
