Better Beginnings for Babies

Better Beginnings for Babies A non-profit improving the care of mothers, babies and families with small children. It
all starts with the pregnancy, prenatal care and birth.

Birth is a pivotal event for women and their families with long term effects. The empowered transformation of women and men into mothers and fathers is vital! Mission statement

We believe that the birth of a child is a pivotal event for women and
for families. If we, as a society, can help in the transition from
woman and man, to: parent, mother and father, we can help prevent
some of the social

, medical and emotional problems of the future. What is
needed is:

wanted and/or accepted pregnancies

prenatal care with respect (social,ethnic,emotional)

faith and trust that, for most women, pregnancy and birth are normal

gentle birth in a supportive environment focused on the woman and baby

midwifery for the masses, with proper back-up and support

a doula for every woman

support for breast-feeding

human milk for human babies

supportive home care for new mothers and fathers

mentors for positive early parenting (mothers teach mothering)

Here is a chance to give your opinion!
Santa Rosa’s Mental Health Support Team has established a Mental Health Support Team. inRESPONSE is designed to address calls for service with a mental health-first approach. The team comprises a licensed mental health clinician, a paramedic, an engagement specialist, and is supported by wrap-around support services providers. inRESPONSE is trained in de-escalation techniques, social work interventions, and conducting physical and mental health evaluations. While collaborating with the Santa Rosa Police Department, the inRESPONSE team remains unarmed and is best equipped to offer mental health resources to individuals and families in crisis.

inRESPONSE, is developing a strategic plan. You can play a key role in the success of inRESPONSE by responding to a brief survey.

Data collected through the survey will be used in future planning.

Individual survey responses are both confidential and anonymous.

The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and can be found by clicking this link: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8199225/InRESPONSE-Survey-2025

The survey will close on April 12, 2025. To learn more about inRESPONSE, visit SRCity.org/inRESPONSE

The full crisis response team is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The system navigators are available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Better Beginnings Community Impact in 2024—
We continue to serve families in our community through our phone warm line 7 days/week,
In A Pinch emergency doula support program and our expanding Baby Village circles (we
added 2 new locations!). In 2024, we have supported over 25 women in labor, answered
over 100 phone calls to provide community resources and breastfeeding support, and
provided over 115 new parents a circle of support through our Baby Villages. This is all
made possible by generous support of our mission by people like you!
If you are looking for a way to make an impact in your local community AND maximize your 2024 tax benefits, please consider donating to Better Beginnings by December 31st . We are supported and funded by community donations alone, and we use every bit of that money to directly impact families in our community through volunteer doula support, phone warm
line for community resources and new parent support groups—all offered free of charge and facilitated by our team of dedicated volunteers. Our mission is to help families access the help and support they need to get off to a great start. We invite you to partner with us!
