Alice has been getting picked on and pecked by Gloria. Her face and comb was covered in blood. Alice is so shy and never lets us hold her, but she was so calm while we cleaned her up and put a fresh yarrow poultice on the wound to stop the bleeding. I was so amazed she didn't fling it off and she rested in our arms. I was worried Gloria would go right back to pecking the wound if it was still bleeding, but the yarrow worked beautifully and the next day we couldn't even tell. Yarrow is often used to stop internal and external bleeding and stop wound infection. It's a wonderful first aid herb to have in the yard. Just smash it up with some positive intentions and you have a strong plant ally.

Being in a state of survival I have lost so much of my creativity. That's when you know it's been bad. Not a spare thought or moment to give.
Last weekend, like a zombie, my body started grabbing things and moving and creating without even a plan. I let the motivation flow and realized I got a spark of something I can share to help nurture our hearts when we are at capacity. Something sweet and comforting like a hug.

And the beauty in this is that it brought me full circle back to mg vanilla beans that I needed for a project five years ago that when I realized the cost of vanilla beans led me to join a super nerdy, vanilla bean co-op online so that I could order in bulk. I went down a rabbit hole. I never knew even existed and I now have six different varieties extracting over the years. I have kept my spent beans and a mother jar just waiting for me to dehydrate them into something else magical.
I'm so glad that I tend to pick up the kind of projects that are forgiving for my roller coaster of attention and energy that comes and goes.

My vanilla beans were patiently waiting for me! There is a thick syrupy, goodness that I have never seen from store-bought vanilla, and now that they are on a trade de dehydrating in my kitchen my house smells amazing!!

These were only the beans from my mother jar, and there is a variety that is mixed into it so it will have a very rich flavor.

I harvested the lavender a little late but they still look and smell amazing and have plenty of use still in them.

Last fall I threw a black tomato out of a bunch I was gifted, into the garden bed and hoped it would be a lovely volunteer this year when the time was right. I was thrilled to see they joined the party! I love when my throw it in there and see if it works method actually works.

Thank you for introducing me to this delicious Osha root honey chew from Pharmacopia Herbals at the last NCWHS. This has helped so much clearing me up so I can breathe again. It was a great class on Lymphatic system and the Apiaceae family. I can't wait to learn more!

Elderberry flowers!! This is the first bloom since having this shrub. They have a very delicate flavor perfect for making syrups, but I will let these produce berries for medicine making.

Feeling the need for plant therapy. Not so much the medicine of after the harvest, but getting my hands in the soil and bringing in the right plants.
A little marshmallow and skullcap is perfect for right now to keep things moving and settle the nerves.
This book by Leslie Gardener is a great resource for what the plants need, and not just what we get from them.

Today tea blend - 2 parts hibiscus, 1 part red raspberry leaf, 1 part burdock, 1 part damiana, 1/2 part Ceylon cinnamon chips, 1/2 part roses.

Delicious, toning, purifying, while grounding the body as well as being uplifting to the spirit.

I’ve been doing a lot of blending new herbal recipes lately trying to find which ones I will mix to share.
