My sweet patient has been using anti-acne creams, seen an esthetician for extracts and switched from different store bought skincare products hoping they would clear up her skin but they didn’t. When she came to see me, I took her pulses and they showed too much heat and dampness in her system. Upon further questioning, patient mentions experiencing lots of stress with school and personal life, craved and consumed mostly sweets and always woke up tired because she couldn’t get deep sleep. All of this disrupted her gut microbiome causing overgrowth of yeast thus resulting in fungal acne.
With fungal acne, topical anti-acne treatments won’t work. You need to go deeper. You need to address the internal disharmony happening in the gut. Acupuncture points can address the root causes of fungal acne. But, patient still needed to do her part in daily selfcare. I got patient making small changes in her diet and lifestyle as well as using medical grade skincare products daily and you can see improvement after one facial treatment. If patient keeps this up, she’ll be having clean, healthy skin very soon.
If you have been suffering from acne and not able to get any relief from conventional skin treatments, maybe its time to try a more holistic approach to skin care.
