🔊 Tinnitus keeping you up or tuning you out? Good news: hearing aids aren't just for hearing loss, they're also a powerful tool for tinnitus relief.✨

🦻Whether your hearing is mild, moderate (or totally normal!), today’s hearing aids can help reduce the impact of tinnitus and let you focus on what really matters.
How do hearing aids help with tinnitus?

✔️ They amplify everyday sounds (like the hum of your fridge or the breeze outside), giving your brain something else to focus on.
✔️ Over time, they can help retrain your brain to tune out those annoying ringing or buzzing sounds.
✔️ Many come with built-in masking features that you can customize to your comfort (think: ocean 🌊 waves or white noise)
⚒️ Tinnitus doesn’t have to control your life. With the right tools and support, real relief is possible.

🤔 Curious about your options? We’re here to help you hear better and feel better. Contact us today to schedule your consultation!

🌊 Heading out on the water? Don’t forget your hearing aids, but do protect them! 🎣☀️

🦻 We recently had a patient ask if it’s safe to wear hearing aids on a fishing trip. The short answer: Yes! But there are a few smart precautions to keep your hearing aids safe and working great on the water:

🔊Watch the wind: Calm cruise? You’re good to go with your regular settings. But if it’s windy, consider switching to a mute or wind-noise reduction program while the boat’s in motion. Be sure to swap back to your normal program once you’re anchored or relaxing.

💦 Splash zone? Be ready: Rough waters or splashy fish tales? Store your hearing aids in a waterproof container when not in use. It's an easy way to protect your investment.

🔐 Keep them safe: Use retention clips or hearing aid headbands to keep your devices snug and secure, so you can focus on reeling in the big one, NOT your hearing aids.

At Kenwood Hearing Centers, we’re all about helping you live your life to the fullest (on land or sea).

Now Trending: XanderGlasses

Um, what?

We recently came across an article in The New Yorker that discussed an intriguing new technology for my patients with severe to profound hearing loss. The story covered an innovative solution, XanderGlasses, aka Smart glasses, that caption conversations in real time!

💬 XanderGlasses are innovative smart glasses that transcribe spoken words into real-time captions, displayed directly in the wearer's field of vision. These glasses display speech as text right in your line of sight, no phone, app, or internet required. This allows individuals with hearing challenges to "see" conversations as they happen, enhancing understanding and participation in various social settings. This simplicity means users can engage in conversations without the distraction of looking down at a device, maintaining natural eye contact and social cues. 👀

It will be interesting to see how this works. We want to get our hands on a pair!

At Kenwood Hearing Centers, we aim to stay up to date on the latest technologies and advancements that will help our patients live life to the fullest. If you’re curious to learn more about solutions tailored to your listening needs, please reach out to us!

🎶🎆 There is AT LEAST one person per summer who comes in complaining of decreased hearing or ringing after attending a loud event.

👂 If your ears are ringing, your hearing feels muffled, or sounds just aren’t as clear as they were yesterday…you might be experiencing temporary hearing damage.

👉 These are warning signs your ears were exposed to noise levels beyond what they can safely handle! And while temporary symptoms can fade in a day or two, sometimes they don’t, and that’s when it’s time to check in.

💬 If your hearing doesn’t bounce back after a few days, please don’t ignore it. Getting a hearing test can help determine if there’s been lasting damage, and what to do next.

Your ears don’t come with a warning light, but these symptoms are the warning. Let’s make sure you’re not ignoring something that needs attention. Please reach out to us right away, there is a limited time to help you if you had a severe temporary threshold shift!

🛠️👂DIYers, weekend warriors, power tool pros…this post is for YOU!

⚠️ PSA: That quick weekend project could be putting your hearing at risk without you even realizing it. Power tools may feel like second nature by now, but their noise levels are anything but safe. According to the World Health Organization, sounds above 80 dB can cause permanent hearing damage with prolonged exposure. And guess what? Many of your go-to tools blow right past that.

Common Tool Decibel Levels:
⚙️ Belt Sander – 102 dB
🪚 Circular Saw – 107 dB (some up to 111 dB!)
💥 Grinder – 100 dB
🔨 Hammer Drill – 102 dB
🪚 Jig Saw – 100 dB
🔪 Miter Saw – 103 dB
😬 …just to name a few!

🎧 Pro Tip: Before you grab your tools, grab your earplugs or earmuffs. Custom hearing protection is also available if you want something ultra-comfortable and reusable!

📌 Save this post as a reminder and tag a fellow DIYer who needs to hear this (literally).

Keep building cool stuff. Just don’t damage your hearing in the process.

📣 PSA for all the awesome parents and caregivers out there: Don’t forget the earmuffs!

🎧 Whether it’s a summer concert, a fireworks show, a sporting event, or even just riding the lawn mower, those little ears need protection. Children’s ears are especially sensitive to loud noise, and hearing damage can happen faster than you think.

☝️ If it’s too loud for you, it’s definitely too loud for them.

💯 Teaching kids to wear hearing protection early builds a lifelong healthy habit. Foam earplugs, earmuff-style protection, or custom kid-sized plugs…whatever works best, just make sure they’re ready to go when the volume gets cranked up!

💬 Have questions about hearing protection for kids? We’re happy to help!

Fireworks, fun, and freedom, what’s not to love about the 4th of July?
Well… maybe the volume. 😬💥

🎆 Fireworks can reach up to 150 decibels! For reference, that’s louder than a jet engine and definitely loud enough to cause hearing damage. But don’t worry, we’re not here to be party poopers. Just hearing protectors. 😉
👉 Here are a few easy ways to protect your ears while still enjoying the show:
🎧Wear earplugs. Yes, even the foam ones help!
📏 Sit at a safe distance (at least 500 feet away if you can)
👂Protect kids’ ears too!

Stay safe, stay festive, and take care of those ears!

Sound on! Listen to this!

The ReSound Relief app just got even better with new updates to help manage tinnitus symptoms. 🎧 Whether you use hearing aids or not, this app delivers powerful sound therapy and calming soundscapes (think beach waves and white noise) straight to your phone or Bluetooth device. 🌊🎶

Now clinically backed by a 6 month study, the app was shown to reduce tinnitus severity over time. 🙌 Even better? You don’t need ReSound hearing aids to use it, just your phone and a pair of headphones will do!

✨How do you use white noise in your everyday life?

🌞 ‘Tis the season for warm weather adventures and SWIMMING! While we love the sun and splashes, summer can bring some not-so-fun ear issues. We were recently asked about the difference between two of the most common ear issues in kids…so we thought we’d break it down for you.

👂 Otitis Media (Middle Ear Infection)
📌 Often shows up with a cold or upper respiratory infection
📌 Ear pain or ear pulling
📌 Fever
📌 Temporary hearing difficulty

🏊‍♂️ Otitis Externa (Swimmer’s Ear)
📌 Caused by moisture trapped in the ear canal
📌 Pain when tugging on the ear
📌 Possible discharge
📌 Tenderness and inflammation

At Kenwood Hearing Centers, we’re not just here to check your hearing, we’re here to support your overall ear health. If we notice something that needs medical attention, we work closely with trusted physicians to make sure you get the right care quickly!

“I’m worried, my dad isn’t going to the places he used to enjoy…”

💔A daughter shared this with us recently during her dad’s hearing evaluation. She noticed he’d stopped attending his weekly card game and hadn’t been to church in months. He said it was “just too hard to keep up with the conversation.”

Unfortunately, this is something we hear all too often.

When hearing becomes difficult, it’s not uncommon for people to slowly pull away from the things they love because it's frustrating, embarrassing, or exhausting to try and follow along. Over time, this withdrawal can lead to social isolation, which is one of the most significant predictors of cognitive decline, dementia, and even earlier mortality in older adults.

📊Studies show that loneliness and isolation increase inflammation in the body AND untreated hearing loss has been linked to increased risk of cognitive impairment and dementia. Hearing isn’t just about the ears, it’s about staying connected to life!✨

🤍If you or someone you love has been withdrawing from the people or activities that once brought joy, don’t wait. The sooner we evaluate and address hearing loss, the better the outcome for both the ears and the brain. Call us today to talk about your next steps. We’re here to help.
