In memory of William “Bill” T. Grafe May 5, 1941 – January 22, 2024
Previous Owner of Eggen & Lance.
William “Bill” Theodore Grafe was born May 5, 1941 in Oakland, California and raised in the East Bay island town of Alameda. Bill became a partner in Eggen and Lance and, in 1986, the sole owner. He sold the mortuary in 1992, but stayed on for more than a decade as manager. He was a great man and made a lasting impact on so many here in our beloved community. He will be dearly missed.

Matthew sat down with Bill just before the Holidays to reflect on the last 100 years of the company. It was a time filled with stories and laughter. We wanted to share a small excert of that conversation in remembrance of Bill and his life.
