I am a psychotherapist in Oakland, California. My experience includes working with individuals and couples on a range of issues: relationships and intimacy, anxiety, stress, depression, work and life transitions, sexuality, and problematic behaviors.
My goal as a therapist is to facilitate self-awareness that will lead you to make positive changes in attitudes and behaviors. From this new place you can make choices that are empowering and that will further you in the direction you want to go.
The therapy process is highly individual. What works for one person might not work for another. I use a variety of therapeutic methods based on what works best for you. Modalities I incorporate include talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic approaches, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and mindfulness. More and more my work is informed by current research in the areas of neuroscience and developing understandings of trauma and memory.
I actively strive toward cultural competence and am LGBTQI affirmative.
