Ultra-Processed Foods May Affect Teen Brain Development.
Ultra-processed foods are food products that
include added sugars, fats, and salt to enhance flavor and prolong shelf life. A recent study found that a high intake
of ultra-processed foods during adolescence is associated with deficiencies in several micro- and macronutrients that
may interfere with optimal brain development and increase vulnerability to mental health issues.
