✨️Teacher Spotlight✨️

You have practiced beside her, and now we welcome her into the role of guidance! Welcome Cheree, our newest addition to The Balanced Yogi Team and recent graduate of our very own YTT. We asked Cheree some questions to get to know her better.

🐘 What do you hope your students feel when they pracrice with you?

I hope they feel a sense of connection, connection with themselves, the communities they are involved in, our amazing earth, and ultimately connection with divine consciousness. I believe we are all interconnected; aspects of each other and all things. Yoga has been crucial in helping me to recognize and truly feel that connection, and I hope my students are able to feel that as well.

🐘Where are you from?

I was born and raised in San Diego, CA, in the Mira Mesa area. In my early 20's I moved to Las Vegas where I lived for quite a while before venturing to Lake Havasu City, and finally returning home. I now live in Santee with my incredible husband and our sweet dog.

🐘 What teachers have inspired you in your own practice and yoga journey?

My yoga journey started with following along to Rodney Yee and Mariel Hemingway on DVD and for many years they were the only teachers I had. When I lived in Havasu, I began attending classes taught by Ben Hicks and was inspired by his stories of personal transformation. In San Diego, I have found inspiration in several instructors including Jen Miller, Kelsey, and Robin Christ, but my largest source of inspiration has come from my YTT instructor, Alyssa Allen.

We are trying out a Saturday evening for Ecstatic Dance so our 9-5 M-F friends can join us!

Ecstatic Dance is an evening of remembrance. A coming home to our sweetest, most aligned self.
We do not Dance to impress, we Dance for ourselves, our loved ones, and those who cannot.

It is a moment tp celebrate movement, music, and our most sensual deepest soul connection.

Meet Keshia Lee! One of our OG sculpt girlies. Keshia is know to bring the heat... Every. Single. Time. We asked her a few questions to know her better!

🌷What do you hope your students feel when they practice  with you?

I want every student to feel like they belong. Strong, supported, and empowered to show up as their best self. A space where they can grow, be challenged, and always leave feeling better than when they walked in.

🌷Where are you from?

I’m originally from the island of Guam. I come from a military family—my dad served in the U.S. Navy—which gave us the opportunity to eventually call San Diego home. I’m incredibly proud of where I come from, and I love sharing that part of me, especially since many people don’t know much about Guam. I always encourage people to learn more, visit if they can, and definitely try the food, if you haven’t had red rice or chicken kelaguen, you’re missing out! 

🌷What teachers have inspired you in your practice and yoga journey?

I’ve been inspired by so many instructors throughout my journey. Taking group fitness classes completely changed the way I approach working out. I rarely choose to work out alone anymore. There’s something really powerful about being in a shared space with people who may all come from different backgrounds, but are there for the same purpose. The energy, the connection, and the way a great instructor can bring that all together is what inspired me.

Meet Elara! Our Nidra queen, we absolutely adore having her on our team and are excited for you to get to know her better!

🌻 What do you hope your students feel when they practice with you?

I hope my students feel truly welcome to be themselves and to show up exactly as they are, with whatever they’re carrying that day. My intention is to create a space where, through the practice of yoga, they can reconnect to their breath, their body, their spirit, their community, and to the earth as part of one interconnected whole. I want each person to leave feeling a little more grounded, open, and at home within themselves.

🌻 Where are you from?

I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and moved to Massachusetts when I was five, where I spent the next 20 years. For the past 12 years, I’ve been grateful to call San Diego home.

🌻 What teachers have inspired you in your practice and yoga journey?

I completed my YTT in 2017 with Elka Haeckel, who continues to inspire me through her dedication to helping people tap into the richness and juciness of life. What I love most about her teaching is the invitation to not take life too seriously; to embrace all parts of ourselves. We get to be silly, sensual, sweaty, playful, deep, and complex… all of it is welcome!
