Pharmacy Myth Busters

With pool parties and lake days amping up this season, we’re here to set the record straight… 🚫 Myth: You have to wait 30 minutes after eating before swimming. ✅ Truth: There's no scientific reason you have to wait. The common belief that swimming immediately after eating causes stomach cramps or increases the risk of drowning is not supported by scientific evidence. You might feel more sluggish swimming after a big meal, but you're not at serious risk. As always, swim smart, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. 🛟 Source: Mayo Clinic

Supplement Spotlight

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for heart and brain health. 🧠❤️ They support a strong immune system, lower the risk of heart disease, and may slow cognitive decline. But many people don’t get enough. You’ll find omega-3s in fatty fish, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and some fortified foods like eggs and yogurt. While food is the best source, a high-quality supplement can help fill the gap. 💊 Wondering if you're getting enough? We’ll help you find out and find the right fit.

Pharmacy Trivia Tuesday

How well do you know your OTCs? NSAIDs are an effective way to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation. Many people use them for headaches, cramps, or joint pain. However, they can upset your stomach or raise blood pressure in some people (so always talk to your pharmacist first.) 💊 Common NSAID brands include Advil (ibuprofen), Aleve (naproxen), and Bayer (aspirin).

Which brings us to the correct answer: ✅ Answer: C) Acetaminophen is NOT an NSAID Tylenol (acetaminophen) is pain-relieving and fever-reducing but not an anti-inflammatory. It’s often a gentler option for people who can’t tolerate NSAIDs due to stomach or heart concerns. Did you get it right? Let us know in the comments! 💬

Medication Adherence Tips

Did you know: 50% of people don’t take their medications as prescribed. Every year, medication non-adherence leads to 100,000 preventable deaths and costs the US healthcare system more than $100 billion. But patients may be non-adherent for many reasons: fear of new medications, less-than-desirable side effects, high costs, or overwhelming medication schedules. If you struggle with adherence for any reason, talk to our team about how we can help you address your concerns and stay on the right track. 💊 Source: National Institutes of Health
